Basketball is in full swing, now that all the football games have been played. But as usual, those dang football legs are still under some of these guys and it won't be until after the holidays that teams will start gelling and playing some good basketball. It's like the first half is just exhibition games. The real games will start in January! I don't watch much basketball until then anyway. I like it when each game has alot of meaning towards the play-offs.
One thing that I noticed this year is that we have a few basketball prognosticators that we haven't had in the past. I look forward to reading these each week as opinions vary after everyone is posted. Of course there will always be a dispute because somebody's team ain't on the list! That's what makes it fun to read!
The MPSA Top 5 has been updated on their link below.
My Chargers are playing football again! I still don't like Norv as the coach and I don't think Rivers is ever going to make a great QB but, at least we're in the games and playing better now...thank goodness we're in a weak conference.
The Saints won!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh yeah, they played Atlanta. I ain't blaming the coach on this one, it's all Vick's doings. They need a QB really bad and Petrino says he wants to draft a rookie and let him sit a year to learn. Not a bad idea but, did you see the crowd last night? I don't think they can stand another year like this one.
When I'm wrong about something, I'll admit it.....Tony Romo has proved himself to me this year, I didn't think he had it but he does. He's finally adjusted and playing like a Pro! With all that said, I still don't like the Cowboys!
This will be the last news article for this year, I'll start back up in January. I'll update the winners of the trivia for this week and post them all, (if they're not all answered) and we'll start back the trivia next year also. Until then, ya'll have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!!
12/3/07
The reason we didn't have any trivia last week was because Joey was at the hospital with his wife, she's OK...(other than the fact that she's married to Joey) So I didn't get the trivia until late in the week, so I just decided to hold it over until this week.
Congratulation to Glenbrook and Centreville for winning the MPSA State Titles! The South rose again. And I predict when it comes All-Star time, the South will keep on rising!
Everybody's got an opinion on this whole BCS fiasco, well here's mine.........first off, I don't really have a favorite team, I just enjoy watching the SEC games and pull for whoever they play against outside our conference. So don't go reading anything into this because I want to see the SEC do the best come Bowl Time. I think that Georgia is playing the best football right now. I don't care if they didn't make it to the SEC Championship game. They were ranked high enough by the polls to be playing for the BCS Title. So what happened? I'll tell you what happened, the BCS people were already nervous because their system is flawed! Duh!!! So they listened to the analysis and did just what all of them said. The BCS doesn't have any clause about winning your conference title to be able to play in the National Title game. So they just flat out choked! At least we do have an SEC team in LSU getting the chance to play for the title. But LSU hasn't played up to the caliber of a team to make that game lately. But I think LSU can beat Ohio State, I mean, who has Ohio State beat...really? I think they have a very soft schedule. The more I think about it, maybe the Georgia/Hawaii game would be a better National Championship game! I'm very curious to see how Georgia will handle the passing attack of Hawaii. Anyway, we got two teams in the BCS Bowls and that's better than none!
So ole Les is staying at LSU, well if your any other team than LSU, you have to be excited. I don't think he's a bad coach, I just don't think he's that good. I think the Tiger's should have let him go to Michigan and they could have easily picked up somebody better. I wonder if they came at him because if he had decided to go to Michigan, would he have stayed for the Championship game? Will Pelinni (sp?) stay or will he leave? Why can't the NCAA put a bar on any coaching negotiations until after Jan. 7th? It always happens this time of year and you see coaches leaving while their teams are playing in bowl games...I think it's just unnecessary!
The New Orleans Saints blow another one. Sean Peyton needs to be pistol whipped after trying a reverse that they ended up fumbling away which led to a Buccaneer Touchdown to beat the Saints. I just sat there and said to myself "There's no way he just tried that" All he had to do was just run another dive play, run the clock down some more, punt the ball deep and hold them with seconds on the clock. Sometimes I still wonder if that old curse is still haunting our Saints. At least my Bolts won over KC!
OK, while on on my rants today, here's another.....we have some folks on The Board that take the time to write their opinions or polls and post them every week. That takes alot of time and research. Then, some people just drag them through the coals because the opinion or poll doesn't make their team look good. Hey! if you don't like it, go post your own opinion or poll. Also on The Board is a MPSA Top Five Poll, I see this getting blasted all the time from people asking "How could you come up with this or another?" This poll is based on quite a few people's vote's, it's not one person! So what I'm getting at here is this, it takes time to establish the results every week, it takes dedication from these people to keep up with all the games that are going on, so please, give them a break!
Dang, this may be the longest report I've ever done! Oh well, it don't mean much anyway....see ya'll on The Board!

I know I'm a day late here but, I've been out of town and just got back yesterday evening. So lets get started..........
Last Friday night I attended the Trinity/Centreville game, and as ya'll know, Centreville won! So here's my re-cap of how it happened... First off, The Tigers did just what I thought they'd do, go back to Bill Hurst football! and that means to cram it down your throat by running the football. I didn't keep any stats but I'll take a fe guesses here and say that CA threw the ball maybe 5 or 6 times all night. But the main thing that was the difference in this game was turnovers by the Saints, and I think that CA scored off of at least 4 of them! Early on though, the Saints couldn't contain the Tigers defensively, the double wing offense was making yards slowly on each possession. When the TE finally did make some adjustments to counter their attack, the score was out of reach because of the turnovers and some costly penalties. Congratulations to the CA Tigers on a well executed game plan and I hope they bring home the State Title! And also to the Trinity Saints, who many thought the transition from A ball to AA ball would be too much. You guys made believers out of alot of folks and everybody is proud of ya'lls efforts.
Thanks to everybody that called in scores last Friday night, it's fun to keep up and relay scores back to anyone that was interested but, we ain't doing this in basketball!!!! Too many teams!
After LSU dropped their chance at a national championship appearance, it's pretty much made Miles decision alot easier now. Thank goodness, I ain't never been impressed with him anyway! The big question is, Who will coach next? I've heard rumors about Spurrier being in Baton Rouge last week. Only time will tell. And speaking of shake ups, Coach O is gone from Ole Miss and Bowers from USM. I hope there's enough coaches out there to fill all these voids besides just around us. Maybe I need to be a coach, I hear they pay pretty dang good!
Can you believe that the two NFL teams that I follow the most (Saints & Chargers) as bad as they've performed this year, still have a chance to advance to the play-offs? Only in the NFL huh?
Congrats to Jarrett Hofpauir on making the 40 man roster for the St. Louis Cardinals, I honestly believe that we'll be seeing him on TV next year fielding balls and swinging the stick in the majors! Congrats Jarrett and Pam....and yeah, and you to Hoff Dylan.
That's all I have this week, until next, I'll catch ya'll on The Board.

Joey Martin.
The Jim-Bob "I'm A Better Actor" Trivia Question:
Name the Broadway play about rugby which appeared on the 1973 cover of Sports Illustrated. Answer: The Changing Room. Winner: Eddie Brewer.
Joey tricked ya'll on the trivia last week, everybody that answered that the Oakland Athletics were half correct, because it was the athletics but, not Oakland, it was when they were the Kansas City Athletics that they first wore the white shoes. So, Joey wins on another technicality. I can hear him giggling now!
Than ks to all of ya'll that called me last Friday night to give me your teams scores, I got almost all the scores except for North AA, and of course, I had alot of people asking me for those scores. I finally did get them but, it was late. I was surprised that I didn't get as many updates on the Copiah/Centreville game like I did the week before. I'll be at the Trinity/Centreville game this Friday again, so ya'll get me those scores! And like always, I'll give you the scores that I have. Please don't rely on somebody else to call me. I love to hear from ya'll!
On to last weeks game, Trinity hosting Oak Forest: I was worried about this game, more than any other because, I felt that Oak Forest had speed to match the Saints and a few big plays could make the difference in this match-up. Well, sure enough, a big play happened early as the Jackets intercepted a pass and took it down the field for a score. But this didn't hamper the Saints and they responded big, they put this game away and kept Oak Forest from even thinking about winning. Oak Forest has some speed and their receivers were open a number of times but, they just couldn't hook up until late in the game. A well executed game plan by Coach King and staff.
Trinity will host Centreville this Friday night and I expect another huge crowd on hand for the South State Championship. And I have another prediction.....Centreville will throw the ball, and it won't be because they didn't try to run it first, I look to see some old fashioned Bill Hurst "Ram it down your throat" football this Friday night but, after the Saints load up the box and stop the run, the Tigers will again be forced to throw the football. This should be a great re-match and I'm looking forward to being there!
If all hold up as planned, we should see the LSU Tigers playing the Tennessee Vols for the SEC Championship, but, stranger things have happened this year already, the BCS system is once again proving to be the joke that has been since inception. And I'm loving every minute of it all! Maybe with another screwed up season, the people in charge of the collective fates of college football will finally install a play-off system.
Remember when I told ya'll on here that Les Miles was going to Michigan and that Nickie boy was coming back to LSU? Be sure and keep on remembering that statement!
OK, the New Orleans Saints now officially suck! And my Bolts are right there with them! And we may see a perfect season from the Patriots, they are still hitting on all cylinders and it don't look like they're running out of fuel any time soon!
It's looking like we're gonna be having wet fields for Friday night and this could make a big difference in game plans. Best of luck to everybody involved and ya'll be extra careful driving to and from the games this Friday night.
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody and remember who to give the most thanks to! Ya'll have a great week and don't eat too much!

There must be something to this global warming thing because, it's the middle of November and I'm wearing shorts! I remember how cold it was when I played in high school and now the regular season is over and it's still baseball weather! Oh that's right, that's when we get our cold weather now, during high school baseball season!
Joey ripped everybody this last week with his Trivia, Eddie must have guessed every year except 1961! Good luck to ya'll this week.
I watched the Trinity/Riverfield game last Friday night, well at least I tried too, I stayed on the cell phone most of the night with alot of ya'll and I really enjoyed doing that but, this Friday night I think I'll find me a chair and a table to sit down and write all the scores and updates. It was hard, walking, holding the phone to my ear with my shoulder and write at the same time. But we'll try it again this week.
Riverfield came into the pit with nothing to lose, they were definitely the underdogs in this re-match, and they played accordingly to their role. TE was in the Red Zone early in the contest twice and came away empty. Riverfield played some smash mouth football but the Saints defense was my player of the game. This may have been the worse offensive performance by the Saints this year! I'm not knocking them but, it was coming, and even with an off game, they still found a way to win! Trinity will host Oak Forest the Friday night in a game that I predict will see alot of big plays from both sides. OF has some great speed as well and the winner may be the team that makes the last big play.
LSU vs. Oregon for the National Championship? If things keep going like they are now, the real National Championship may be the SEC Championship game. I don't think Oregon will lose any games but, they better win them big to make it to the BCS Championship because Kansas, Oklahoma or Missouri are waiting in the wings for a mistake. LSU on the other hand still has Ole Miss and Arkansas plus the SEC Championship, if they come out flawless in these games, it's a no-brainer that they'll keep their #1 ranking.
I think Gill Morris is still in shock over his Tide dropping their third straight game to the Bulldogs of Miss. State. And I think I even heard that Bama hasn't scored a touchdown on them on the last three years! How embarrassing!!
Well, I tuned into the Saints game and since they were playing one of the worst teams in the NFL, I said to my wife, "Watch this honey, the Saints will get killed in this game" She got mad at me and even madder when I was right! What's going on with the Saints? They're making some of those same bone headed play calling like they did in weeks 1 through 4. And don't even get me started on their secondary!!!!!
So after watching that debacle, I tuned into the Sunday night game and watched the Bolts and the Colts. My Bolts were putting to the Super Bowl champs, although it was mostly special teams, it didn't matter to me, we was a winning! Then all of a sudden, we start getting Norvarized!!!! (that's what Norv Tuner does to a team) and our 23-0 lead starts dwindling to a 23-21 lead and the Colts have a chip shot to win the game with less than a minute and a half to play!!!!!!!!! Oh no, not again!!!! Vene misses!!!!!!!!! YESSSSS!!!! Bolts over the Colts, but just don't give Norv any credit because he tried his best to blow this one!
I haven't received any stories from this past weekends youth season, if you have a picture or story, please e-mail me or Glenn.
I'll be participating in the Natchez Children's Home Celebrity Golf benefit today out at Beau Pre' C.C., if you're not busy, you need to be there at 11am, there'll be a trick shot exhibition at that time and it should be fun to watch. As a matter of fact, he's on my team!
That's all for this week, I'll catch ya'll on The Board or at the game this Friday. Later Ya'll!!!!!

What a game! The Trinity vs. Centreville game was everything it was hyped up to be and more. I was worried that both teams would be resting their starters or at least they would see minimal action last Thursday night but, that wasn't the case, if a starter was out, it was because he got his bell rang! But as I said on The Board Thursday night, it was the passing game of Centreville that was the downfall for the Tigers. Although the kid has a rocket for an arm, the touch just wasn't there in this game. This kid is going to shine next year as he gains more experience. But Trinity showed that even though some think they had an easy schedule, they can also play with the big boys.
Trinity will host Riverfield this week and although the Saints won this game a few weeks back, I don't think Coach King will sway his game plan any or overlook this team. The Saints will come in fired up for this re-match!
I want to thank everybody that helps on The Board, it's good to know that anybody can get game results every Friday night. It might be really late (tom) like, past my bedtime but, I can see them in the morning! I've really enjoyed all the predictions, it used to be mostly just AA Fan Da Man but, now we've got a few more and all are very knowledgeable of the teams in their divisions. I know we get alot of junk on the page but, if you just skip all that, we've got a great source for information and that is because of ya'll. OK, that's enough, I'm starting to tear up.
Basketball season is upon us and this is the time of year that MissLouSports.Com gets the most visits to the website. Maybe because there's more games, but still, it gets a ton of hits and with The Board growing more and more each week, I hope we have enough room for all the post! Heck, I can't read them all now! Thank goodness I have some great monitors to help me weed out the trash.
I just got back from Cocodrie and my team didn't place in the Bowfishing Tournament, but I bet we had more fun! It was a great turnout and although the next morning, it looked like I could have filmed a version of the Walking Dead, there were some big Reds that were caught that night. 13 straight hours of bowfishing was too much!!!! But these guys do it all the time.
The Saints are back, or are they? Brees lit it up yesterday and I just hope that they stay with their game plan , you know, the one that got them so far last year. If they revert back to what they did earlier this year, it will be over quickly!
I ain't no Romo fan but, he looked pretty good last night. I fell asleep (remember the 13 hrs. of fishing?) so I didn't see all of the game. Dallas Off. Co. need to be head coaching somewhere and I'm guessing that it may be next year, where? I don't know.
My Bolts!!!! They're sliding again and they lost to the Viking!!! Where's Marty? I didn't mean that, really. But they need help.
I'll be at the pit Friday night, and I encourage ya'll to call me with your teams scores and I'll keep all the scores handy for ya'll as well. Just keep calling me during ya'lls game and we'll stay updated. My cell number is 601-597-3624.
Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on The Board.

Lots of answers this past week on the trivia questions, I think by only allowing one guess per person, it made me receive alot of those answers. But remember, first one to answer correctly gets the credit! Only the original question didn't get answered, so Joey gets that win, don't ya just hate that?
I guess that the game that everybody has been anticipating won't happen this Friday night, Centreville at Trinity.....Because they'll be playing Thursday night and will there ever be a crowd!! Bring a chair if you come late and also wear your walking shoes. Although the game doesn't matter as the Saints have clinched their division title already but, nobody wants to lose!!!!
What is going on over at Natchez High? They lost almost everybody from last year, a team full of Seniors and yet, they're winning ballgames..... and over some good opponents! Coach Lance Reed has and is doing a great job with these young guys! Keep it up Coach!
The Pick'em Guy was out of town last week so, we'll just resume it this week. I hope ya'll understand.
This may have been the worst World Series ever, Colorado was lethargic...at best! I didn't care who won but, I did want to see some good games!
I was out of town this past weekend and didn't even really have very good cell service where I was staying so, when I got home yesterday and read the sports section of the paper, I couldn't believe what I saw.....Mississippi State OVER Kentucky? Could the Dogs have a chance at post season play? Maybe it was a misprint? Strange season in college football.
USM got trompled last night by UCF 34-17. UCF's Kevin Smith showed why he is the #2 rusher in College football, he had 175 yds. and 2 TD's on the night. C-USA has a battle going on in this division.
LSU at Alabama this weekend, the Tide fans better be glad that this one wasn't in Baton Rouge this year!
The Saints Brees by San Fran 31-10 and Brees was 31 of 39 for 336 yds. and 4 TD's....WOW!

5-1 Green Bay at Denver tonight on ESPN. Farve has this young team clicking on all cylinders this year, he's having so much fun that he may play 10 more years!
I had a lifetime experience this past weekend in Fayetteville, TN at the "Kid's Hunting For A Cure" Deer hunt. I don't know how many kids were there but, I do know that it was over 250 because that is how many goody bags they had to give to each kid that participated. The Majority of the kids were there just to hunt and have a great time but, there were some kids there that won't be with us this time next year. We had one kid named Aaron that was in a wheel chair and he bagged his first deer ever, a tall tined 6 pt. and the expression on this young mans face is one that I'll never forget!....Aaron has cancer and his prognosis is untreatable. Hopefully he will get to make it to our Annual Squirrel hunt this February and if so, I hope some of ya'll get to meet him....a really great kid with an even better outlook on life!
I'll get to see the Trinity/Centreville game on Thursday but, I'll be leaving Friday for Cocodrie, LA for the first annual Cajun Shoot-Out bowfishing tournament. I'll be back in Sunday evening so, I'll catch ya'll then.

I spent the weekend over at the River View RV park in Vidalia for the Balloon Races and the weather was fantastic, I didn't go to any carnivals or Flea markets or even to the festivity grounds to listen to any bands....I stay right around my camper and relaxed and ate some good food! But what I really enjoyed was Friday night, I had quite a few people either calling me or texting me scores and giving updates on their games, I really enjoyed doing that. I had my radio going between the Natchez High game and Trinity's game. Natchez High blew Jim Hill out of the water so I got to listen to Trinity more and boy was that a fun game on each teams first two possessions! Back and forth and pretty much until the end. A great game by two teams that were laying it all out there! I just wish I could do that again this Friday night but, I'll be out of town....more on that later!
You would have thought I was tailing at Tiger Stadium last Saturday night at the RV park, there were more purple and gold decorations surrounding me than at the game itself. These Tiger fans had flat screen TV's mounted on their RV's, LSU streamers hanging everywhere and even LSU pop up tents! And don't even get me started about what they do when LSU scores!!!! It was fun though and while I went to bed while the game was still on, I got woke up at one point in the night and figured out why when I saw the news the next morning!
How bout dem Saints? They pulled out a close win over the mighty and powerful Atlanta Falcons....ok, that was sarcasm. But a win is still a win and the Saints will take'em any way they can get them at this point in the schedule.
Did ya'll notice Joey's Trivia this week? I think he's having way too much fun here! But I must say, I'm getting more answers than ever before so, each person will only be allowed to answer one question per week, that way more people can get their name listed.
I've updated the "MPSA Top 5" link and also the "Where are they Now" link.
I'll be headed close to Fayetteville, TN this Thursday for "Kid's Hunting For A Cure" Foundation Deer Hunt. I think we're suppose to have somewhere between 200 to 250 kids. Each will have a guide and a spot on donated land. 51% of the funds raised will go to St. Jude's while the remainder will go to other kids foundations such as Ronald McDonald House, Shriner's Children's Hospital and such. It should be a fun weekend with auctions, bands and other various fundraising stuff for the kids.
That's all I got for this week but, keep coming back, we're adding new stuff all the time! Later Ya'll!!!!!

Name the SEC quarterback who finished just 28 yards short of passing and rushing
for 3,000 total yards in his career. Answer: Chris Leak.
Winner: Joey Martin.
I had a feeling that in the LSU/Kentucky game that Kentucky would at least cover the point spread but, I didn't think they would win! I was watching it out at Beau Pre' C.C. (during the Coca Cola Four Ball) with everybody there pulling for LSU, so naturally I was pulling for Kentucky...not because I don't like LSU, if everybody there would have been pulling for Kentucky, I would have been pulling for LSU. So here's the scenario, Kentucky has already scored in overtime and is leading LSU, it's third down and the room gets quiet, so I hollar.."PUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!" You should have seen the faces on these LSU fans...PRICELESS!!!! So I get home and start watching the California game and can't go to sleep because I'm thinking, this can't happen to both teams on the same day! But it does thanks to a freshman QB. So now I'm hearing that Ohio State is number 1 and South Florida is number 2. Surely, something else will happen to get this mess cleared up before Bowl Time.
Jordan Farmer and Gary Farmer teamed up at the 4-Ball this weekend and trampled the field by five shots to win. I was watching as they came into the par five 18th and Jordan's second shot almost went in the hole for a double eagle, he settled for the eagle. I played with Dr. Craig Bradford and we shot 2 under the first day and 1 under the second.....we donated to the field!
My Chargers are back baby!!!! They're back on top with a tie for first in their division. And finally letting L.T. do his thing!
The Saints win! Much better play calling in this game, seemed to favor the Saints from last year. For some reason, Reggie just seemed quicker in this game, it was like he was on a mission to prove to everybody that he is the real deal!
Joey had gone crazy with the Trivia, All but one got answered last week and I'm thinking there will be more this week. At least I knew the trivia question that bears my caption.
Glenn has been working hard on the "Where are they Now" section and I just updated that link below. If you know someone that needs to be on this list, drop Glenn an e-mail.
How about that Brady and Romo show? Didn't turn out like most would have thought. Of course, I'm not one of those. This New England team might just be one of the best teams ever! And I ain't no New England fan! Of course, only time will tell.

We're trying to do more interesting things with this website, it has grown bigger than I ever thought. What started as a local sports page has now grown to cover all of Mississippi and Louisiana sports with 70,000 to 80,000 visits every month. I can't do everything myself and have always counted on others to make this site more fun, of course Joey Martin has been here since Day 1 and his Trivia, Sports Articles and "Board Talk" has always kept the fire's burning. With the addition of people like Glenn, John L., tom, AA Fan Da Man and now Smurfdaddy, it's getting even better. We need more people to step forward so that everyday you'll have a reason to log on here and see what's happening!!!!
New Orleans Saints....geez, what can I say? I didn't get to see the whole game but, did anybody see any paper bags yet? If not, they're coming! Too much talent on this team, even without Deuce, to play this bad. Oh well, there's always next year.
My Bolts Won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And they looked like the Chargers from last year! Don't write them off just yet, it's a close race in their division.
I said a few weeks ago that Dallas QB Tony Romo was average at best...I was wrong, he's terrible but, he did tie a Cowboys record last night!!! Most interceptions thrown in a single game.....and he should have broken it but a Buffalo player dropped one that hit him dead in his hands! How the Cowboys won this game is still a mystery!
We're working on getting Banner Ads back on here like we used to do a few years ago, if you're interested, visit our Rate Page at : www.misslousports.com/mlsrates

What athlete has been on more Sports Illustrated covers than any other? Answer: Michael Jordan. Winner: Richard Lewis.
I Attended one games this past Friday and listened to a couple others.....I went to the ACCS/Riverfield game and Riverfield's Wide Out (and I think I have this name right) Jared King was an exceptional player, really good speed and some moves to go along with it! I'm not sure if he has the size for D1 but, his talent will keep him playing past High School. ACCS on the other hand, has a way to go but, alot if not most all of the players are not Seniors, so these guys are getting alot of playing time and gaining experience....and experience is what they need to turn them around for next year.
This is just my observation so don't anybody get your feathers ruffled, it probably doesn't mean anything but, it just struck me funny when I thought it....here goes. Trinity played Briarfield for the State Championship last year and TE won. Then last Friday night, TE plays Briarfield for HOMECOMING!!!! Anybody that knows football oughta figure that one out! Gotta love Coach King's confidence he has in his team.
I was riding home from the game and listened in on the Cathedral/ Bogue Chitto game, it was pretty close at half and I thought the Greenies might pull this one out but, it didn't happen that way. Of course Cathedral only has about 8 conference games in a row!!! So maybe they'll bounce back and rally hard from here on out.
I don't know much about Vidalia's football team, I haven't seen them play or anything but, I know Jena's been pretty good for years and Vidalia just plain out whooped'em good. But then again, Vidalia ain't out of the thick of things too much themselves.
Natchez High hosted Meridian, both sat at 2-2 going into the game, a friend of mine calls the game on the radio for Meridian and he told me that they were really down this year. I said they can't be more down than Natchez High because we lost a Senior laden team from last year. Meridian won.
Vidalia's own Jarrett Hoffpauir finishes the season with the AAA Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis affiliate) sporting a .300 batting average, a .416 slugging % had 24 RBI's, 10 doubles and 4 HR's, all this through 55 games and 190 At Bats with 57 hits. Quite impressive, I believe we'll be seeing him on TV next year on a regular basis! I know his mother Pam is very proud of her son and I am too!
Natchez's own Nook Logan, playing with the Washington National's finishes with a .265 Batting Average though 118 games, he scored 39 runs and had 86 hits. He also made ESPN's Web Gems and Top Ten Plays of the Day a few times with his diving catches in centerfield.
The New Orleans Saints DIDN'T LOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On yeah, they didn't play! My Bolts are just plain out pitiful, even the fan's are yelling for Marty to come back...I wouldn't go that far! Something got to happen, LT looks like his puppy got run over during his interviews.
OK, that's all I got for this week, I'll see ya'll on "The Board"

Well, I was so far out of town this week that I didn't even have cell service! So I only found out the scores by going back and finding tom's post that he does every Friday night. So we'll move on to other things that I did see!
First off, I wasn't in Utah, I was in Wyoming, just about 40 minutes outside Sheridan, WY at the NX Ranch owned by the Chase family and I ain't never seen a place like this before! It was more than awesome and they had more Elk than you can shake a stick at! But with this great facility, they had satellite service with every sports package available. So we watched alot of college football games, and while we made them let us watch most of the SEC games, they were pulling for anybody that we were pulling for, like LSU....but we had the last laugh in that one. LSU is just plain "For Real" I don't see them losing this year. The Alabama/Georgia game was a good'un also as I was pulling for Georgia...the Saban magic ran out last week. Louisville was just wasting space in the Top 25 so now that's over. Ole Miss got our hopes up and played Florida better than most would have thought.
We flew out yesterday (and boy are my arms sore) but we caught quite a few games in the airports like the Colts win, the Eagles (McNabb looked very good in this game) The Cowboy and the Bears....which QB was the worst in this game? My Chargers are 1-2 and the lackluster performances they've been dishing out aren't looking very good. And I thought Marty Ball was bad! But we have tonight as the Saints and Titans square off on Monday Night Football. If the Saints lose this one, I may have to go looking for my bag!!!
I've updated almost every link above and I'm trying to get the Pick'em Guy to give me some kind of stats of each player for the game so I can post it under a link for that.
Thanks to all that give informative views and opinions on "The Board"
Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

Who is considered to be the first paid football coach at Ole Miss?
Answer: C.D. Clark. Winner: Rich Lewis.
Name the NFL player who competed in bobsled at the 1992 Olympics.
Answer: Herschel Walker. Winner: Rich Lewis.
The New Orleans Saints are back!!!! Yes, back to the Saints of old. Am I the only person to think this? I doubt it. Was last year just motivational from the devastation of Katrina? The world may never know. But it is agonizing to watch a team with so much talent to just perform the way they are now. Maybe things will turn around for the Saints, I sure hope so because we don't need to see those die hard fans sporting their paper bags over their heads!
Tiger Woods wins the FedEx Cup and the $10,000,000 purse. OK, I know that's alot of money but wait, there's a loophole, it's an annuity and will only be worth that much money at maturity. Oh well, Tiger will just have to suffer until then.
Mississippi State beats Auburn? I had no idea that Auburn was that bad. I'm not picking on State but, I'm sorry State fans, I just see ya'll winning the SEC this year. But I do think that the new QB is much better than Hennin.
I had a great weekend out at Beau Pre' C.C. in the Cup matches, My team "Carnoustie" won over St. Andrew's by a huge margin. We were down 5 1/2 to 1 1/2 after the morning alternate shot but, in the evening we tied it all back up in the Four Ball event. Sunday evening were singles matches and our team ran away with it all. This was one of the best events I've ever played in and I'm looking forward to next years event already!
I'll be leaving this Wednesday for Utah to hunt Elk with the Wounded Warrior Project guys, it's always entertaining with this group, their outlook on life is far better than most and they're having a blast and enjoying the great outdoors. I'll be back in next Sunday night and get everything updated then.
Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch you later!!!!!!

Who is the only American hockey player to win an Olympic gold medal and play on a Stanley Cup-winning team in the same year? Answer: Ken Morrow. Winner: Richard Lewis.
First off, I was out of town last Friday and so I still don't know much about the games. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express!!!! I did make some phone calls and got some scores and it was good to see that at least ACCS scored this week, I don't know what quarter it was in or how, but I'm glad they scored!
My biggest surprise was that Natchez High knocked off Gulfport....I don't know anything about Gulfport but, they're almost always in the thick of things in football. Great win for the Bulldogs no matter what the reasons.
I figured Trinity would win last Friday night but, by that score? Quick scores tend to bring a team down and that's just what TE did at Huntington.
I heard that Cathedral squeaked one out over Salem, a good win for the Greenies!
I never did hear what Vidalia did, didn't they play Quachita Christian from Monroe?
Well, I just got back from Destin yesterday evening and while my wife worshipped the Sun Gods on the beach, I played golf everyday, I played both courses at Blue Water Bay and I played Regatta Bay and Kelly Plantation. My scores in order were 78, 77, 76 and 77. Just in case ya'll wanted to know. Did that sound like bragging? .....OK it was!
The Beau Pre' Cup Matches are this weekend and I was lucky enough to make one of the teams this year. The format is two teams, Team St. Andrews vs. Team Carnoustie (sp?) First day (Sat) it will be alternating shot play that morning followed by 4 ball that evening. Day 2 is individual play. All play is match play. Come out and watch, it should be a great time by all.
Well, that's all I got so, catch ya'll later!!!!!!

Who was the first coach elected to the college and pro football Halls of Fame?
Answer: Sid Gillman. Winner: Richard Lewis.
Last Friday evening, I was playing golf out at Beau Pre' and got caught up in a game and was late leaving. My plans were to finish playing golf and then stop off for the ACCS at Trinity game. So I'm running late and when i get in my truck, I turn on the radio to 107.1 to hear the game. It's already over! Well, for the most part anyway! Trinity was already up by 20 something and AC couldn' tmove the ball. So....I kept on driving right by "The Pit" Trinity is going to surprise some folks this year, they have many weapons in their arsenal and know how to fire them! ACCS on the other hand, is going to have a rough year but, much gained experience for the youngsters!
Wow, I got a bunch of answers on the trivia this past week, I would say about 99.9% said Red Owens. I got some Clyde Adams guesses too. Martha guessed Dr. Carey!!!! Oh well, she's a blonde.
AA Fan Da Man's link is updated, if you haven't already read it on The Board.
The Pick'em game is going pretty good, I'm in the hunt anyway! But I'm not going to post "who picked who" in case some body might feel bad about picking against their school, that way, nobody will know except me and pick'em guy. I'll post this weeks schedule and results from last week as soon as he wakes up and sends them to me.
I'm leaving for Destin in the morning and I'll be back sometime next Monday. It's my honeys birthday, so I'm taking her on a romantic getaway.......I'm sure Lisa won't mind!!! hahaha
See ya'll next week!!!!!!!!!!

Well ya'll get an early report as I'm heading out of town in the morning for Grand Isle, LA to do a little fishing with the Wounded Warriors guys and Marsh Masters Guide Service. I'll get the trivia posted when I get back and I'll create a page for the "Pick'em Contest" I should be back sometimes Wednesday evening.
I got to see parts of 2 games last night, first I went to see the Trinity/Tensas game. As I was walking through the gate I saw a Tensas running back breaking loose and scoring on a long scamper right through the Saints defense. Well, that was the highlight for Tensas for the night!! Although Tensas looked to have some nice sized young'uns, they just didn't look very sharp. Understand also that there is a new coach with a new system and bugs have to be worked out, but they should win some ball games this year in Class A. On the other side of the ball, Trinity might have lost Steven Ridley but, there are several skill players that can score on you before you can blink an eye. Everybody knows R.J. Fleming and he is an exceptional young running back but, there's another kid (#14, I don't know his name) that looks just like R.J., and in a few more games you'll be hearing his number called alot. Then there's the double threat outside with Wells Middleton and Clint Easom, both are quick and have great speed. Parker Brumfield was a little shaky throwing the ball at first but, he settled down and made some later. For all you people that thought Trinity was finished after Ridley left, keep thinking that when your team plays them and you'll be crying when the games over!
Next I went over to ACCS as they hosted WCCA. It was halftime and WCCA was leading 16-0. WCCA Coach Sam Byrd (who by the way is just one heck of a nice guy) in his first season as Head Coach, had his guys fired up and ready to play! ACCS looked to have the advantage on the line size but the stingy Ram defense just wouldn't allow them to do much if not anything. The Rebels have a tough hill to climb if they want to compete in Class AA. My thoughts don't mean much but, with the size of the Rebels line, I believe I'd get those running backs deeper in the backfield and try to pound out a few yards with a Power I, but hey, those are just my thoughts.
The big game in town next week matches up Trinity at ACCS. Although after seeing both of these play last night, I would strongly favor the Saints in a blow-out but, this is a cross-town rivalry and anything can happen on a given night, remember ACCS and Brookhaven last year? Get there early if you want a seat, should be a packed house.
Good Luck to all the area teams this coming weekend and I'll catch ya'll when I return.

Name the two Ole Miss players who have led the nation in punting.
Answer: Frank Lambert in 1964 and Jim Miller in 1977.
Winner: Joey Martin.
Alot of responses to the trivia this week and although most guessers had Jim Miller correct, they couldn't get Frank Lambert! I'll get the next trivia question in as soon as Joey deals it to me.
Michael Vick.....I may be wrong but, don't he get like 14 million a year? Really! Hey Mike, do you speak Canadian? If and maybe just if he does come back to the NFL, can he still play QB? He ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer anyway! I think he should have been spending his off time learning the playbook instead of fighting dogs!!!! Oh well, taking the Thug out him must have been harder than the Falcons thought....live and learn.
The New Orleans Saints first team looks like they haven't missed a beat from last year, maybe this is the year they put it all together and pull of the miracle season. Of course they'd have to play my San Diego Chargers in the Super Bowl but, that's OK with me! The Bolts looked good in the game I saw, or I should say highlights I saw. Given Rivers some experience may just be the ticket.
I've been reading some of "The Board" and it tickles me to see how some people think that a Jamboree's results show how a team will be in the coming year....PURE HOGWASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anybody with any football sense knows that a coach ain't showing what he's got in any Jamboree!
I saw where we got us a "Pick'em" and this weeks games are as follows:
Central Private @ Huntington
Tensas @ Trinity
WCCA @ ACCS
Bowling Green @ Copiah
Brookhaven @ Centreville
Heritage @ Leake
Riverfield @ CENLA
Glennbrook @ Tallulah
JA @ MRA
Prep @ Washington
Mail your picks to asoutherner@hotmail.com

I think I know who's doing the Pick'em and if he'll send me the match-ups and results, I'll post them on here each week.
OK, that's all I got for this week, so until next, ya'll have a good'un!!!!!!

It's that time of year again! School has started and Football is fixing to heat up. The Miss-Lou ought to expect some good things this year because, we generally always do at least have a few teams always making post season play. That says alot about the talent in our area. So let's get it started..................
ACCS - Coach Paul Hayles comes home and he'll have his work cut out for him this year. Rebuilding is always going to hit every school and this is the Rebels year to do just that. They'll be some bright spots and some younger players will gain alot of needed experience for the years to come.
Cathedral - Coach Craig Beesley always finds a way to win, I expect them to be in contention all year as they still have quite a few skill players returning.
Natchez High - Coach Lance Reed is another one of those in the re-building stage, he lost the big line he had last year as well as most of the key skill players. They'll be young across the board, so watch out next year.
Trinity - Coach David King knows how to win, their players expect to win, it's been a tradition over there for awhile now. Ridley's gone but there are several other kids that will step up and keep them in the hunt.
Vidalia - Coach Dee Faircloth ain't gonna be down too long and after last year, I expect to see the Vikings roll this year. The new weight room and facilities will show this year.
Of course, these are just my thoughts and they don't really mean that much, so don't anybody get offended!!!!!
AA Fan Da Man has already started predicting, and he's posting his news on "The Board", he does a great job and is usually pretty accurate. So don't give him a hard time if he doesn't pick your team to "Win It All"
Joey's back with his weekly trivia and I'm betting nobody gets this weeks Main question...geez, that was the year I was born!!!!
I know that Fast Pitch softball is going on but I just haven't had the time to make any games, if ya'll want to send me any reports about our Miss-Lou teams, drop me an e-mail.
Christopher Rayborn (my son) is an assistant baseball coach at Meridian C.C. this year and he'll be working with the pitchers and traveling around to see players for next year.
As most of ya'll have read or heard about Steven Ridley, I know that he's doing great at LSU. He just turned 18 yrs. old and I think he should be red-shirted because, he's gonna grow MORE and get even STRONGER. But that's just my opinion and LSU may need him now and if that's so, I know he'll make us all proud!
I don't know if I'll be able to post every Monday or even every week as the TV show has me jumping around a good bit but, I'll try and keep up and make as many games as I can.
That's all I got, so I'll catch ya'll later!!!!!

Congratulations to Vidalia and Trinity on some great post season play in baseball this year. Year in and year out this area produces some fine young players and there' always one of our local teams (if not more) continuing play into the post season. It says alot about our youth programs and the ability of our local coaches to mold these young men into players. You can talk about coaches all day long but, I'll have to say one thing, you don't coach just for a paycheck and coach very long, the kids will see right through it! So coaches, don't let it bother you, most of us truly understand what you're doing out there!!!!
I played in the Joe Fortunato Celebrity Golf Classic this weekend out at Duncan Park G.C. and the turnout was great, around 47 four man teams I believe showed up for the 2 day event. The proceeds go towards scholarships from the local football hall of fame to area athletes. My team bettered our score by two shots from Saturday to Sunday but, it twernt good enough!!!! But we had a great time and ate our share of the entry fee in BBQ that was prepared for 3 different meals.
This past weeks Trivia had Agatha Weeks winning the 1966 Belwood Ladies Golf Assn. Championship, well I ran into Ms. Agatha this weekend as she was playing in the tournament. She told me she hasn't played in years but she did chip one in from off the green on Saturday! I told her it's like riding a bike, you never forget. She just laughed and hugged my neck.
I haven't been posting much as I used to but, I've been so busy filming that I just don't get to as many games anymore. That and the fact that ya'll do such a great job of posting everything on "The Board" that anything I say is old news! I ain't complaining, keep up the good work!
This will be my last post until School starts back up and Football begins. Then we'll start the Trivia back up also. If Joey sends me his weekly news, I'll be sure and post them and let ya'll know when I do.
Ya'll have a great summer and I'll catch ya'll on the Board until next football season.

I know it's been awhile since I've updated but, I just haven't been able to get out and catch many games so, Your fixing to get what I have seen.
I caught game 2 of the Trinity/Glenbrook series out at Liberty Park, and after seeing this game, I was wondering how Trinity lost Game 1. Although Glenbrook was scrappy, they were weak on the mound. Now Glenbrook fans, don't go crying about me talking about your pitchers, ya'll came a long way to get to that point in the series and you must have been doing something right but, I've seen many a baseball game and pitching had to be the weakest part of your team.
Trinity's still in the hunt and they travel to Heidelberg today for the chance to keep moving forward, best of luck to the Saints!
Vidalia moves forward and plays this Friday at home starting at 5, just not sure if it's AM or PM......Maalox sales have jumped in the Vidalia area, especially after one certain person has found a way to mix Maalox with another substance for better stimulation. Good Luck Vikings!
Joey's News is updated as well as the Trivia on the links above.
I went to Jackson weekend before this one and watched the Mississippi Braves and particularly one Van Pope (starting third baseman) Some of ya'll know that my son and Van played together at Meridian C.C. and since he made it back home, we just had to go and se him in action. We got to the game early and talked with him for awhile and he told me that at first he was doing good and then it happened, a slump, I think he told me he went something like 0 for 26, well he went 0 for 4 that night we were there. We came to the game the next day and I told him he was thinking too much, and since I know Van, thinking isn't a strong attribute for him to begin with! He went 3 for 3 with two singles and a Homer and was named Player of the Game. I think he's still batting under .200 but he'll come around...or else!
Speaking of my son, he'll be a Graduate Assistant next year at Meridian C.C. while he picks up his Masters degree at West Alabama...online courses of course but, a chance to possibly stay in the College ranks when he finishes his schooling. He'll probably be home this summer and will offer pitching lessons while he's here. I know he'll be working some College baseball camps around the State as well but, when he's here, he'll be available to help any age kid that's interested in improving their pitching. Just e-mail me and I'll get you in touch with him to work out the times.
OK, if don't want to read about Redneck Adventures, you can quit reading now!
We've been traveling around mostly doing turkey hunts and the best one was this past weekend in Albany, TX. We went to the Newell Ranch and the guest of Randy and Jason Rifenburgh, Randy is the manager of the 50,000 something acres. I've beensuffering with a bad back for the last week but, I made the first morning hunt with Randy as our guide and when he made his first call of the morning, there must have been 5 or 6 gobblers hollering back at us, I just knew it was fixing to be dead turkey really soon but, all that came in were two hens. We heard gobbling all morning but just couldn't get one to come in. That evening Greg Ketchings got him a nice bird on a stalking run and gun method, I think he invented this, not really sure though. Brand Richardson bounced an arrow off the back of a bird that evening also. The next day Kevin Weldon bagged him a bird and Jim Bob and Rick (the bus driver, we went over there in a really, really nice motor home) had them a bird harvested in less than 20 minutes! The rain kept everybody from making some early hunts and mid-day hunts and had it not rained, I believe everybody would have scored, this place was loaded with Turkeys. This show will probably be the first show of our 10th season which will start up in a few weeks.
A new network is coming out and should launch in August, it's called "Redneck America Network" and Jim Bob and myself will be Executive Producers. This network will start out in alot of cable households and will eventually be added to Direct and Dish. The investors are mostly television executives and station owners so the transition should be easier. There will be some hunting and fishing shows, funny home video's, country music video's, home shopping show with outdoor products, Lifestyles of the Poor and Infamous and all kinds of good ole country spun fun stuff. We'll be in Nashville in a couple of weeks for a meeting and this company will probably go public by years end. Should be a fun ride!!!!
Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe that even after running the same trivia for 2 weeks, that Joey still gets the sweep....was is that hard? Oh well, we ain't going for 3 weeks, so I've just put up this weeks trivia for ya'll to take a stab at...good luck!
I don't any news to speak of really but, I did watch some TV yesterday and here's my opinion on what I saw....
Golfer Adam Scott is good! and I mean good enough that I believe he will win a major this year.
LSU girls basketball team couldn't have beat a local junior high team yesterday, they we're colder than a beverage coming out of Hoff's ice chest!
The Lady Vols looked like they were going to blow it but outscored UNC something like 20-2 in the final minutes.
Florida thumped UCLA by 10 pts. and if they can hold it together, it should be a good game tonight with "O" State.
Nascar's Jimmy Johnson and teammate Jeff Gordon were bumping to the finish line..Johnson won and Gordon cried about it.
The World Champion St. Louis Cardinals hosted the Mets of New York....good thing they won last year because the Mets lit ace pitcher Chris Carpenter up like a pinball machine last night, seriously!!!! The lights really did go out and nobody noticed it but me!
I enjoyed a great day of filming on Saturday on Eagle Lake, just north of Vicksburg. It was the 4th annual Catfish Jugging Tournament and these guys and gals put on a great event, followed up with fried white perch and a local country singer for entertainment.
I'll be leaving Thursday for Southeast Oklahoma to shoot Turkeys, Hogs and some good ole perch jerking!!!!
OK, that's all I have for this week, I'll catch ya'll later!!!!!

I haven't updated in a while, I've been real busy lately filming out of town, so I haven't been to see a single baseball game yet this season. Although I've been hearing some good things about our hometown boys and the Miss-Lou seems to be representing themselves well this year as a whole. I'm about to wrap up another season of our show and I should be able to get out and make a few games pretty soon, so until then, I wish everybody the best of luck.
I've been trying to keep an eye on the NCAA tournament, I even played in one of those "Pick'em Brackets" First off, I ain't much of a basketball follower so it was evident when they posted the wins after the first two days of games and I only picked 21 winners total!!! I tied somebody for 2nd to last place so far but, the team I picked to win it all is still in the hunt....Florida....I think they will repeat and I think Florida football will too.
I'll be headed out to Savannah, TN Wednesday to film a Turkey Hunt with the "Hunt For A Cure" foundation which is hosted by St. Judes Hospital. There will be around 14 TV shows in attendance and a plethora of outdoor sponsors. With all the publicity involved, it should help bring more awareness to the Hospital and the kids.
I've included Joey's News from the last two weeks under his link, check it out!!!
That's about all I have for this week so, I'll catch ya'll later!
2/26/07
Sorry, no trivia last week but we already have it posted for this week.
Joey's News just got updated today and it's pack full of sports info...check it out on his link above.
I ended up leaving last Tuesday and don't really know what's going on in the sports world except for what is left on The Board.
I'm guessing that the Miss-Lou didn't get the big wins but, we will have representation at overalls in basketball.
I attended the Outdoor Show in Canton, MS this weekend and it was horrible, not many people came out for the event and I'm sure the weather on Saturday didn't help.
I'll be headed to Rolling Fork, MS this Friday and we'll have an Armadillo Round-Up, they'll be kept alive and released at another location, but it should be a fun filled day catching them on film!
Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch up to ya'll later!

years from 1992-95. Name him. Answer: Glen Whisby. Winner:
Ivan Evans.
Which NFL team drafted Louisville quarterback Johnny Unitas in 1955? Answer: Pittsburgh. Winner: Jeff Bass.
We're lucky here in the Miss-Lou to have several teams still competing in Basketball....Trinity girls play DeSoto Tuesday at 1:30pm and Trinity boys will play Bayou at 5:15pm, both of these games will take place at University Christian in Flowood, MS.
Huntington boys will play Wednesday against Immanuel Christian at 2:45 pm...also at Univ. Christian.
The ACCS girls play Tuesday at 4pm against Delta and this tournament is being held at Brookhaven Academy.
Best of luck to all of ya'll, no matter the outcome, you have done us proud already!!!!!
Baseball starts up as ACCS competes in the Silliman Tournament which starts today....Natchez High will host Canton today at 4pm and Vidalia will host Pineville at 6pm.
Boy has "The Board" gotten rough lately, I come home to find a few people in disarray...Slander, rumors, bad language and an utter disregard for our fellow man (or woman) Some people just like to stir things up just for the controversy it creates but, sometimes it does go overboard and people's lives are affected. It makes me want to just dismantle this whole thing and forget it ever existed. I've been so busy lately with my other business that I can't sit here and monitor this site, so I've chosen a few people to help me, which I think they do a great job, but we can't all be here all the time so, some things do get by us and for that I apologize. But I would suggest that if this "Board" keeps you stirred up, I would suggest an alternative, ie: another site or TV. It's not worth it to your health if this site bothers ya'll that much. I still think "The Board" has a much better atmosphere than most other sports boards. Read a few others and you'll find that out real soon. We'll continue to do our best at maintaining the site the best we can and if that's not good enough...I'll shut it down!!!!!
The Redneck Adventures Squirrel Hunt was a great success and I want to thank all that participated in both the hunts and the activities during the weekend. The temperature's could have been a little warmer during the nights but, a couple of well placed fires did come in handy!
I'll be heading back out of town this weekend for an Outdoor Show being held in Canton, MS....if you're looking for bargains, this time of year is the best time to get'em at any outdoor show!!!!

Basketball season is winding down as district play has began. Just around the corner is Baseball and teams will be playing Tournaments soon. Winter is finally getting here and with it comes Baseball, it just ain't right! Maybe we'll have a warmer Spring this year!
Joey's News is updated on his link above.
I've been gone all week and just got back last night. We had a blast in Texas getting some Hogs and one Exotic deer, we only got two Rattlesnakes, it was just too cold!
Redneck Adventures is holding our annual Squirrel hunt this weekend so I'll be busy all week preparing.
I haven't even watched TV the last few days so I ain't got much else to report...sorry!
Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!!!!!!!

Who did South Natchez's football team beat in 1981 to win the first championship by playoff system? Answer: Starkville. Winner: Tim McCann.
Bonus Questions
Name the first all-state back at West Monroe High. Answer:
Jerry Stovall. Winner: Ed Porter.
Name the only Texas player to be named MVP of the Sugar Bowl.
Answer: Bobby Layne in 1948. Winner: Eddie Brewer.
Poor Joey got swept early this past week, maybe this weeks are tougher but, I ain't banking on it!
OK, unless you've been hiding in a ditch lately, you've probably heard about Redneck Adventures being on The Tonight Show. We were in Las Vegas for the NAPTE show, it's where the TV exec's go to find new shows. Well, The Tonight Show was there filming people's pitch's for their shows and we decided...Why Not? Well it made the show and Jay Leno plays a game with the audience called "Pitch To America" where the audience decides if the show is "Sold" or "Not Sold", so here's the website to The Tonight Show, http://www.nbc.com/The_Tonight_Show_with_Jay_Leno/ just scroll down to Featured Video and ya'll can see it for yourself.
So how'd ya'll like the Super Bowl? For some reason, I just can't make myself pull for a Manning anymore, most of ya'll know why! I thought it was a good game, a little sloppy with the turnovers but, that's to be expected when it's raining the whole time! Chicago has a great team, they need a quarterback in the worse way, Rex ain't gonna cut the mustard. he threw two passes where his receivers were wide open and he couldn't get them the ball, they fell short and got picked off! I bet Lovie is wishing he would have started the placekicker instead!!!!
I have an opinion and I'm allowed one just like everybody else.....all playoff and Super Bowl games need to be played indoors, it takes out the mother nature factor that can be beneficial to one team in certain circumstances. Plus, when I watch these games, I want to see the best that a team can play without outside interference!!!!
So all we've got left for football is the Pro Bowl next week, generally the pre-game shows are better! And the week before competition and contest.
Basketball season is just now getting to the fun part, games mean more now and the level of play steps up a notch. Best of luck to all the area teams as they try for a play-off spot.
It's February and that means that we'll be seeing some baseball action real soon. Generally tournaments only this month but it's still baseball!!!!
I'll be leaving out this week headed to Texas to harvest some exotic game animals on a ranch about a couple hours west of Dallas. We'll be the guest of www.winadeer.com , they have ranch's all over the place and camera's set up so you can hunt deer from you home or office, it's pretty neat stuff, check it out!
Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch up to ya'll later!!!!
1/29/07
I know, I know....I was MIA on ya'll last Monday but, I have a really good excuse. I went Duck hunting over at Glasscock Island, it took us all week to find some birds but, when we did....it was on like a chicken bone!!!!! Great hunt and it'll air soon.
I've been so busy filming shows that I haven't made but one basketball game this season and that was Saturday night, a college buddy of mine's son called me and told me they (Copiah Academy) were playing at ACCS and I better be there. His name is Hunter Greer and he said he had a bad night but he still scored 18 or 19 pts. Copiah isn't very tall but they shoot the ball well and their point guard, Bennet Wilson is very quick and gets his share and a few others share of takeaways.
I got to the game expecting to see the ACCS girls play and all I got to see was the last period, AC won by 10 or so but I was told that it was a 2 pt. game at the half. I also found out that the games were WAY ahead of schedule....on a Saturday!!!....very out of the ordinary!
I try to keep us with basketball the best I can by reading The Board and the updates and analysis are pretty dang good. I appreciate everyone's effort, there are son many people that get their updates here but will never speak out on The Board.
Is it just me or do ya'll see alot of complaints lately about refereeing (I must have spelt that right because it didn't say I messed up...hmmm?) anyway, mostly it's when one team loses and they need some kind of explanation for their team losing. Ref's are an easy target and really do a thankless job. I find it hard to believe that a ref would make the difference in a games outcome on everyday situations. I'm not saying that a bad call in a tight game wouldn't make a difference, I just think that some fans put too much of their teams poor play on the ref's. I've watched alot of basketball games through the years and I've heard the fans complain and for the most part, they have made the right call, it's alot easier when you watch a game unbiased.... give it a try someday and you'll be surprised yourself!! Most of the MPSA ref's I've watched are doing a good job...except for Ricky...hahahaha
I'll be headed to North Mississippi this weekend for a kids only duck hunt at Gumbo Flats just outside Lambert, MS. Jim Bob's son has invited a few of his friends and their dads to participate in the hunt. It was a great show last year and I hope we have as much success this year.
OK, I'll shut up now and catch ya'll next week!!!!!!!

Name the Natchez High Rebel football player who led the Big 8 in scoring in 1956. Answer: Howard Kisner. Winner: Joey Martin.
Bonus Questions
What team did USM beat in their first football game?
Answer: Hattiesburg Boy Scouts 30-0 in 1912
. Winner: Travis Thornell.
Who led Northwestern State University in tackles in 1983 with 172?
Answer: Gary Reasons. Winner: Joey Martin.
I guess ya'll thought I was MIA or something but, I've been real busy with Redneck Adventures lately trying to put together a deer hunting show and it just takes alot of footage to make a good show on deer. Thank goodness I had some help because I hate sitting in a deer stand!!! We spent some time at some great private clubs around here and should put out a good show though.
I did hear that ole Hoff bagged some nice deer during the season, a 10 point that he was trying to tell everybody was a 12 or 13, a smaller buck a fat nanny. I guess deer meat won't be a problem in the Hoffpauir household this year....unlike most other years!!!
I know it's still basketball season but, I feel the ember burning inside me as baseball season is almost upon us. There's just no comparison to the crack of a bat in the spring time. I'm looking forward to it!!!
Thanks to all the Board monitors while I've been gone, I've received some e-mails from concerned people and before I could see the offensive post, they were gone....thanks ya'll!
Joey's News is updated on his link above, I just hope I haven't missed any in the last couple of weeks!
My Chargers lost and I can only blame coaching for it because, when players do stupid things, it reflects a lack of discipline and that goes back straight to the coaches. Dumb things cost them this game and Marty gets another year on his contract...I think they're just holding back waiting for a better coach to surface.
I said all year that the Saints were going to set us up just to let us down, well I was wrong and at this point, if they lose this weekend, it won't matter, they've done New Orleans proud and healed alot of sorrow in that town.
By the way, who will Archie pull for if New Orleans and Indianapolis reach the Super Bowl? hahaha dumb question huh?
That's a wrap for me this week, ya'll be safe and I'll catch ya'll later!!!!!!!!!!!!
1/7/07
I know it's Sunday and I usually update on Mondays but, I have a guest coming into town this evening and we'll be off to the woods for a little deer hunting, or I guess I should hope for some BIG deer hunting!
I hope everybody had a great holiday season and Santa brought you everything you asked for....as you can guess, he didn't bring me everything I wanted or I wouldn't be sitting here typing this morning!!!! I'd be in Aspen skiing.
Although I haven't been to any basketball games, I have been keeping up somewhat on The Board and it sure does seem that anybody can win in the South AA ranks on a given night. This sure makes for some great games and it will make the district play-offs even more exciting! Best of luck to all the teams and hopefully I'll slow down soon so I can make some games.
I haven't seen but one really good buck this year and it was a doozy! 182 class 10 point. over in Louisiana. I can't give out any details because the landowner doesn't want the publicity. I can't say that I blame him!
College Football Bowling hasn't been to great in my opinion except foe the Boise State and Oklahoma game....and I went to sleep!!!!! I woke up the next morning and just couldn't believe what I missed. The winning lay was sweet and I haven't seen it in a long time, maybe since Gray Y football!!!!!
The Colts will play another week but the Cowboys are finished...If I were Dallas, I'd be looking to draft a QB!!!! and a line to protect him!
I'll be leaving out for Las Vegas next Sunday so this will be it for the next couple of weeks, we have a convention to attend, so it's not all just for fun.
Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!!!!!!!!!!!
