My News

The Lady Rebels made an easy game of the Lady Rams and everybody got to play for AC. The AC boys had rough night and just played sluggishly, except for Beau Brashier, he lit it up! It was Sweetheart night and Kate Wadsworth was named Sweetheart Queen.

I'll probably go to the Ferriday/Vidalia games tonight. They're the only games in town!

AYA Basketball starts tomorrow and tip-off is at 8:30am at both ACCS and Trinity gyms. Go out and watch the future stars in some really fun basketball action!

Ya'll have a great weekend and I'll see ya'll on the Board!

I saw 2 much improved Cathedral basketball teams play yesterday, their losses weren't nearly as bad when they played MSD earlier in the season. Hats off to coaches Peter Arnold and Bobby Holder!

Yesterday I got game footage from both Cathedral teams, Ferriday girls, Huntington girls and both of Vidalia's games. Should make for a good show next week.

Don't forget that "The Sports Buzz" airs this evening at 5:30pm on Cable channel 4, lots of footage from last weeks action!

Poor Morgan, she scored last night against Central Private and had it wiped away because of a foul away from the ball.

My News

Trinity girls ARE getting better! they led 10-5 after the first quarter but a poor second quarter led to their demise. Watch out for this team in the next couple of years as they are loaded with youngsters!

Trinity boys didn't have any problems last night and seemed to score at will, it won't be any different tonight as they travel to Tensas, the TE boys are playing some great basketball and at the right time!

I plan on catching the Cathedral games today and with them playing early, I will head over to Ferriday and catch some of the girls game, cross the street and catch some of the Huntington games and hopefully end back up at Vidalia to catch the end of the boys game. Anybody got some gas money they want to hand out?

I've added the games on the ACCS baseball schedule for the Parklane Tournament.

Sorry about yesterday, it wasn't my fault, the server was down and didn't get back on until late yesterday evening, everything seems to be back to normal now though.

I'll probably run into ya'll somewhere tonight, until then, have a great day!

Track & Field

Natchez High took home first place in the girls and boys division at the McNeese Indoor High School Invitational.. Kendrick Gibbons set another personal best in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.36 which was also a meet record and won the long jump at 23'  1/2". Tenieka Hill won the 55m in 7.52 for the girls. Lexi Washington tied for the high jump at 5'.

My News

I told ya'll DEFENSE, DEFENSE!!, the Bucs put the Raiders away 47-21 and anytime it looked like the Raiders were going to bounce back, they got bounced by the Buc's defense!

I'll be headed to Trinity tonight as they host Porter's Chapel, I believe it's the only game in town, so I'll have an easy night!

Sorry that this page is late today, my server was down and I've just been waiting for them to fix it.

My News

What a night for basketball, I watched the ACCS Jr. High boys fall by only 2 pts. to Jackson Prep, then I watched as the ACCS girls played one heck of a game against them as well losing by only 6 points. I headed over to watch the Trinity/Central Private game and when I arrived, it looked like CP was schooling TE. But after the halfway break, TE bounced back and overtook the lead and held on for a 4 pt. win, it was a great game to watch and I though to myself, "I have seen some good basketball tonight!" When I got home my phone rang, it was my wife, she said, "You should have stayed at AC, our boys beat JP 52-50!" This was a shocker! But it just goes to show you what can happen when hard work and determination pays off! Congratulations to the AC guys on a great game plan and congrats to the TE guys on getting some revenge on a team that upset them earlier in the season.

I receive an e-mail from Janice Davis (the mother) She said that Janice (the daughter)  could not make the McNeese Indoor Meet, although she has already committed to Stanford, she had a visit set up with Harvard, they wanted the opportunity to talk to her and visit her hometown. The official signing period is not until April. Janice has been invited to compete in New York at the National Indoor Scholastic and to Landover Maryland for the Nike Meet also held in March and Mt. Sac in California in April.

Are you ready for some football!!!! That's right, it's Super Bowl Sunday! I'll be fixed in my favorite position this evening, laid back in my recliner munching on chips'n'dips and enjoying some BBQ meat balls and finger sandwiches. I'm pulling for the Bucs...DEFENSE, DEFENSE, it should prove to be a great game and it has a great story line with Gruden leaving Oakland just last year.

Ya'll have a Super Sunday and I'll catch ya'll in here tomorrow!

My News

I saw a couple of JUCO college coaches last night at the NHS/Vicksburg games, Gwin Young, the girls head coach at Co-Lin was there, his team is undefeated and ranked #1 in the nation, he was there looking at Crystal Brown & Gloria Lewis, he was telling me about his point guard, he says she is awesome and has already signed with Mississippi State. I also talked to Hillary Allen, the girls head coach at Meridian, he was there looking at the same two girls and Karmethia Mazique as well. Coach Allen is also the athletic director at Meridian, a really nice guy. I enjoyed talking to them both, they're both very successful and will continue to do well with the talent that is spread around the State.

The Lady Bulldogs got a little revenge on Vicksburg last night after dropping the first game to them earlier in the season, they are now 3-2 in district play and tied at first place.

The Natchez High boys are rebuilding and I caught some of the JV boys game before the girls game and Coach Mike Martin has some great players coming up in the near future and some that are playing a little now! Hang in there, they'll be back in running real soon.

I'll be headed out to watch the ACCS Jr. High boys play Jackson Prep today, this will be a really good game, I'll stay and watch my daughter play and then I'll head over for the Trinity boys vs. Central Private game, Central Private won't lay down for the Saints, should be a good game, maybe I'll see ya'll there!

Ya'll have a great day and I'll see ya'll in here in the morning!

My News

The Lady Rebels were missing some key players last night as well as Hillcrest, it was a low scoring game and the play was pretty sloppy. It didn't seem that either team could find a groove last night. A tough loss for the AC girls.

Hillcrest boys used a strong 2nd quarter to push the score up on AC but they came back late in the 4th quarter and made a good run at it before Hillcrest slowed things down and used the clock in their favor to preserve the win.

I'll probably head out and watch the Natchez High/Vicksburg games tonight, the Lady Bulldogs need to win this one since they loss to Vicksburg earlier in the season.

Joey didn't get his sweep, it was close but Walter Ketchings upset him on the last day! Maybe this week.

Plenty of action tonight, find a game if you don't have a favorite and enjoy a good Friday night of basketball.

I added a Link for Baseball and softball schedules, they're incomplete but, it's a start!

See ya'll in the morning!

My News

Joey Martin's page is updated today, check out his Link above.

It's Thursday and nobody has answered the Trivia, Joey just might get his SWEEP!!!!

I'll be out at ACCS this evening for what should be a great night of basketball action.

I was invited to go on the last day of deer hunting with guns by the crew of "Redneck Adventures" I didn't take a gun, I just took my camera and will have some footage of it on next week's TV show. All I can say is, it was a riot! There were two 4 pts. taken and a fairly nice 8 pt also but, there were also 3 misses. There were about 15 hunters and we went to 2 different places hunting.

That's about all I have for today, I'll see ya'll on the Board!

Huntington girls vs. MRA in New Orleans - 2:30pm

Trinity boys vs. MRA in New Orleans - 4pm

My News

You can catch the Trinity/MRA game today on 107.1 FM "The River" at 4pm.

I went out to Trinity last night and watched them host Huntington, the Trinity girls played a great 1st quarter but the power of the Huntington girls proved to be too much for the young Lady Saints. Trinity boys started out strong and everybody got plenty of playing time for the Saints last night, which was good considering that they have to travel to New Orleans today to take on MRA. Huntington has a really good team and will fare well come playoff time.

It's looking like Joey Martin may just get that sweep he's been looking for! Although Walter has been hunting all week and when he gets back and sees this, he'll probably make sure that Joey loses!

Don't forget that at 5:30pm this evening, The Sports Buzz comes on with a new show!

If you want to see a picture of Coach Ron Rushing's new baby, click HERE!

Janice Davis signs with Stanford after a tough struggle between them and UCLA, I thought she was in California competing in another big track meet but, according to today's paper, she has inked her scholarship. Congratulations Janice and good luck this year!

My News

Speaking of the paper, Adam Daigle, if you're reading this, you owe me 50 cents, the paper thrown in my yard today didn't have anything in it but "The Guide" And don't think I will forget! lol Just kidding, DUDE!!!!

I'll be out at Trinity tonight to catch their district game against Huntington, I'll have my camcorder with me in hopes of snagging a few interviews for The Sports Buzz. So get ready McAnally!

The TV show this week was finalized last night, I stayed here until around 11pm getting it ready, while I was recording the show to tape, I went to the Bulletin board and what a night! kf51 and Doc Fungo matched wits most of the night, all I could do was just read and shake my head!

I haven't received any answers to Joey Martin's Trivia this week, ya know he's still looking for that sweep!

Not anything happened yesterday that I know of so, that's a wrap! See ya'll in the morning.

1/20/03

Track

Natchez High competed in the Magnolia State Indoor Track and Field Championships in Jackson over the weekend. Kendrick Gibbons set a State Record in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.45 and won the long jump with a leap of 22'1", he was 2nd in the high jump at 5'10" and was part of the 1,500m relay team that finished 2nd. Darius Edwards won the 300m in 37.20, Richard Blanton came in 2nd in the 55m dash at 6.65. The NHS girls won the meet without Janice Davis who was in California competing, Lexi Washington won the long jump at 16'6" and was 2nd in the high jump at 4'10", she was also on the winning team in the 1,600m relay, Teneika Hill won the 400m in 1:01.43 and the 55m hurdles in 8.63.

My News

What a story line, Ex-coach vs. Ex-team....John Gruden in his first year as coach at Tampa Bay will travel to San Diego to take on his former team, the Raiders! For Oakland, it's about revenge, for Gruden, it's about, you should have offered me more money to stay! Should be a good Super Bowl game and I for one, am looking forward to this match-up!

Gun season is over and the deer won, I didn't harvest anything! However, in the last 8 days at my camp, 5 bucks were taken. Oh well, there's always next year! I might add, if anybody has any excess deer meat they need to get rid of, give me a call.

Not much happening today in the Miss-Lou as far as local sports that I know of but, plenty of Basketball action tomorrow night.

We took your suggestions and revamped the show, we now have a bigger sign, a table, logo matching shirts and everything seemed to go alot smoother. We also changed the format up some, we're now going by each school and covering all their action for the week, we're still staying in alphabetical order though. So if you want to see ACCS coverage, you better tune in early, if you want to see Vidalia coverage only, you can tune in later, but we want you to watch the WHOLE show! We had interviews with 3 coaches this week and 3 players. There is some bonus footage of the Cathedral coaches and parents working on the Liberty Park baseball field and some footage of the Vidalia baseball try-outs. To cut down on too many commercials, we will run them all once during the show and then after the show, we will run them all again. You're thinking "Well I won't watch the commercials at the end" Well, you'll have too since we added bloopers and a skit between them. You didn't think we did all this on the first take did you? It should be fun and entertaining, so stay tuned after the show to catch us at our worst!

Coach Ron Rushing and his wife Kappi had a boy last night, around 8-1/2 lbs. Congratulations Ron & Kappi! Your life as you knew it just ended! lol.....I was interviewing ASC Coach Barry Bean last night when Coach Matt Mason's cell phone rang about the news. I had Matt ask him if the baby had curly hair, Ron said, "No, it's straight!"

Coach Bruce Pickle's Lady Rebels got on the board quick and piled up the numbers which allowed him to clear the bench through the 4th quarter, I know it's always best to play good competition but, sometimes it's good to win  by a large margin so the bench players can get some time on the hardwood, they practice everyday and deserve some time when the opportunity presents itself, hats off to Coach Pickle.

The AC Rebel boys jumped out quick also by over 30 pts. in the 1st quarter and Coach Ricky Gray started substituting early, letting a few mingle in at a time, everybody got plenty of playing time last last night.

Joey Martin's Freaky Friday Frenzy Trivia Questions are posted above, try your luck, he's still looking for that sweep!

I'll catch some video footage of the Natchez High/Clinton basketball game tonight before I head out to the hunting camp for the final weekend of gun season. See ya'll in here Monday!

National News

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Mo Williams gave it up to Antoine Pettway for one big shot and saved the last one for himself. Williams set up Pettway's tying layup to close overtime and then hit a 3-pointer with 26 seconds left in overtime as No. 9 Alabama beat No. 14 Mississippi State 68-62 on Wednesday night, the Bulldogs' third straight loss. Pettway tied the game at 55 with a baseline layup off the glass with 1.6 seconds left in regulation. "I told Mo they were going to expect him to take the shot," said Pettway, who also made two free throws late in overtime. "I told him if he comes by me, I would take the shot. "I wanted to shoot the 3 and tell everybody to go home, but the lane was so wide open," he said. It was the first basket for the Crimson Tide (12-2, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) in nearly seven minutes after they overcame a 12-point halftime deficit. The Bulldogs have lost 16 straight road games against ranked conference opponents and their first three SEC games after rising to a school-best No. 7 ranking. "If you want me to say I'm happy being 0-3, no," Bulldogs coach Rick Stansbury said. "If you want me to say I'm going to panic, no. There's 15 games to play." Alabama extended the nation's third longest home winning streak to 28 games.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- It was a big night for LSU's reserves. Tony Gipson scored 14 points -- going 4-for-4 from 3-point range -- and No. 23 LSU beat Centenary 112-65 on Wednesday night to stretch its home winning streak to 11 games. "I can't promise a night like that every night," Gipson said. "It was a lot of fun." Torris Bright added 13 points for LSU (12-2), while Collis Temple III and Antonio Hudson each scored 12 and Ronald Dupree had 10 -- all playing 20 minutes or less. The Tigers played all 15 players and 13 scored. LSU got 57 points from its bench. "How we played tonight was what made Centenary look that way," Bright said. "They're not a bad team."

My News

I jumped around a good bit last between the Trinity gym and the ACCS gym, one of the ACCS Jr. high games went into overtime and by the time I got back to Trinity, the varsity boys game was over! I got some good interviews for next weeks TV show though.

The Trinity girls played patiently against Pine Hills and put together a solid game for the win.

The Parklane girls took advantage of their height and kept feeding the ball down low, the Lady Rebels just couldn't adjust and it was the difference in the ballgame.

The ACCS boys just got off to a slow start and couldn't regain after Parklane started off really strong.

"The Sports Buzz" starts tonight! It's the first show and things may be a little rushed but, we had to start somewhere! After I made the final cut, I did see a couple of mistakes and we'll try and remedy that for next weeks show, which will have more interviews with coaches and players. Trying to produce all the commercials and editing the footage kept me extremely busy this week. With most of the commercials already made, I'll have more time for editing next week plus, I learned alot about editing this week as well! So bear with us as we try to make this show run more seamlessly. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good show, but it will get better. The show starts this evening at 5:30pm.

I don't know of any sports action that will be today and that's fine by me...I need the break! Just kidding, I wouldn't have it any other way!

Peyton Manning will stay at Ole Miss for his senior year! Good decision since there is a plethora of quarterbacks entering the draft this year! (Did ya'll like me using that big word? I got it from the movie "The Three Amigo's")

I'll catch ya'll on the Board!!!!

I got a call last night from Loney Bell, a member at my camp, he harvested an 11 pt. that weighed 195 lbs. and sported a 17-1/2" spread, he had talked earlier to David Marchbanks, another member at my camp, that was hunting over at McNair, MS and got a 10 pt. with a 17-3/4" spread. That's just about right, I came in early yesterday to shoot the video for the new TV show and the bucks were moving yesterday evening!

Next weekend is the last weekend for deer season with guns, then you can break out those muzzleloaders again! I'll be finished after next weekend, no smoke pole for me!

Jerry & I shot our footage last night for "The Sports Buzz", the first show will air Wednesday evening at 5:30pm, we're in a rush trying to put everything together and the first show is experimental. Jerry & I have never produced anything like this before but, it's fun and we hope to keep ya'll entertained.

I don't believe there's any basketball tonight but, if you know of any games, please list them on the Bulletin Board. There are numerous games tomorrow and I'll have them posted in the morning.

So far I haven't received any guesses on the Joey Martin Trivia, maybe he was right, he's looking for a sweep this week!

I plan on getting a little coverage today of the Cathedral/ Wesson soccer game and then I'll head over to Ferriday and get some pictures and film of Ferriday girls. I'll head by Vidalia and hopefully catch some of the action before heading to the hunting camp for the weekend. I'll see ya'll in here Sunday evening.

Well if it hadn't been for Mike Smith getting one of the trivia questions, Joey would have had a sweep! In his e-mail to me this week, he guarantees a sweep this week.

Remember to send me any information about any deer harvested.

If anybody does any filming of their teams basketball games, please let me get some footage from you for our upcoming TV show, I'll just need to borrow your tape for a few minutes and I'll return it back to you. Give me a call and I'll come by and pick it up also. 597-3624.

NEW ORLEANS -- Paul Pierce, mindful of the Boston Celtics' 3-point struggles in a loss this week to Washington, made sure his team got inside against the New Orleans Hornets. Pierce shot only 5-of-14 but scored 16 from the foul line and his 28 points led Boston to a 93-83 victory over the Hornets on Wednesday night. "I wanted to just stay aggressive, mix it up and get to he line," said Pierce, who had 21 of his points in the second half. "We learned from our last game when we took too many 3-pointers, and I just wanted to make a concerted effort to go to the basket." Boston, which was 8-of-32 from 3-point range against Washington on Monday, improved marginally to 9-of-28 against New Orleans. But Boston was able to make three straight from long range -- two by Tony Delk and one by Pierce -- during a 16-2 fourth-quarter run to put the game away.

NEW YORK -- The NFL implemented several officiating changes Wednesday, including the positioning of officials on field-goal attempts to avoid future foul-ups like the one at the end of the Giants-49ers playoff game. Under the new policy, initiated by commissioner Paul Tagliabue, the seven field officials will be realigned so they can better see what happens in the event of a fake field goal or a botched attempt, like the one at the end of last Sunday's game, won by the 49ers 39-38. The new policy will begin with this weekend's four playoff games. In addition, the new policy calls for the field officials to confer on controversial game-deciding calls at the end of games instead of just the referee and the other officials who made the call. However, the officials involved in Sunday's botched call are unlikely to be disciplined beyond bad grades that will keep them from working the Super Bowl this season, according to a source within the league who requested anonymity. In the Giants-49ers game, a bad snap on a potential game-winning 41-yard field goal by New York on the game's final play was fumbled and then picked up by holder Matt Allen. He tried a desperation pass on which there was clearly interference against Rich Seubert, a guard wearing No. 69 who had lined up as an eligible receiver. As teams are required, the Giants had told the officials before the game that Seubert would be eligible on field-goal attempts and extra points. In a rare public admission of culpability, the league announced Monday that officials correctly threw a flag for an ineligible receiver downfield against Tam Hopkins, a New York offensive lineman who ran beyond the line of scrimmage. But the league also said a flag should have been thrown against San Francisco's Chike Okeafor for pass interference against Seubert, who came close to catching the ball that Allen heaved downfield. The offsetting penalties would have allowed the Giants to try the kick again. As for discipline, Tagliabue said, "As I have learned from successful coaches like John Madden and Bill Parcells, we do not make overall personnel decisions until the season is completed, not during the season." NFL rules actually have provisions for replaying parts of games or -- as in this case -- one play. However that has never been done and the league said in this case that it is obviously impractical. In reality, there are mistakes by officials every week -- coaches routinely ask the officiating department to review calls that they think were improperly handled. The NFL then responds to the coaches, often telling them they were correct. The controversies occasionally become public when teams announce that they have been wronged. But rarely has the league volunteered that officials made a mistake, something it did this week because of the magnitude of the game and the national exposure it got. Officials are graded on their performances in every game -- obviously receiving lower grades if they make mistakes. Those rated at the top at each position are given playoff assignments. And those that finish No. 1 are assigned to the Super Bowl. If they are consistently rated low, they are fired. However, there are exceptions. For example, Scott Green, the back judge involved in the call in the Giants-49ers game, did last year's Super Bowl and was rated No. 1 at his position this year. However, he would not have been eligible for the title game in any case because league policy prohibits an official from working it two years in succession. But league officials noted that since the officials in the Giants-49ers game had been rated high enough to get playoff assignments it was unlikely there would be discipline beyond low grades for the game. They also said those downgraded for mistakes in Sunday's game will likely start over with clean slates next year -- as does every official. "That's the way we handle it every year," Tagliabue said.

The Sports Buzz, our new TV show will premier next Wednesday evening at 5:30pm til 6:30pm and a re-run will follow on Sunday at the same time. I talked with Adam Daigle last night at the ACCS Gym and he will probably do a story on it this week some time and he'll also put the TV times on the 2nd page of the Democrat under the "On Tap" section at the top.

Trinity girls played a good game last night against ASC and hit some crucial free throws to clinch the victory. The Trinity boys were just too much for the ASC boys and were handling them pretty easy when I left. Central Private girls won easily over ACCS, turnovers by the Lady Rebels were quickly turned into baskets by Central Private. The ACCS boys played alot closer game than what the score turned out, the Rebels weren't hitting on all cylinders last night and had a tough time scoring in the final quarter.

Basketball from here on out should get alot better, with all the holidays behind them now, you'll see the area teams sharpen up and play better ball.

Only today and tomorrow is left on the Trivia Questions, right now, Joey's winning!!!!

I'll be headed out to ACCS tonight to watch the girls game and then I'm headed to watch Trinity boys, I haven't seen TE boys play this year and I'll be taking my camcorder tonight to get some action on film for an upcoming TV show that Jerry Roberts and myself will be producing, it's called "The Sports Buzz" and will most likely air on Wednesday nights at 5:30pm to 6:30pm, we'll also have a re-run of the show which will air on Sunday evening at the same time slot. We hope to have it ready for next Wednesday, I'll let ya'll know in here when it will air. MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Memphis Grizzlies have a strange problem -- they can't hold 30-point leads. The Grizzlies led New Orleans by 31 points with 6:47 left in third quarter Monday night, let the Hornets get within one with less than three minutes left in the game and finally held on to win 106-102. It marked the second consecutive game in which the Grizzlies almost blew a lead of more than 30 points. On Friday, Memphis squandered a 32-point lead against the Los Angeles Clippers before recovering to win. "It's a good problem to have," Memphis forward Shane Battier said. "I'd rather be talking about losing a 30-point lead than trying to come back from 30 down." Jason Williams scored 28 points and handed out 14 assists as the Grizzlies turned back the second-half New Orleans comeback. "I tell people all the time, it might be safer to have a 5- or a 10-point lead as opposed to a 30-point lead," Williams said. "I don't care who you are, you are going to relax a little bit. But we have to fight through it and overcome it." The Hornets got within one, 97-96, when Courtney Alexander hit a 12-foot turnaround with 2:51 to play. But they could never overtake the Grizzlies as Williams hit two shots to extend the Memphis lead and sealed the win with two free throws with just under 24 seconds to play. "I feel like my shot is going to go in every time I shoot it," Williams said. "I've just got to take my time, take good shots and try not to rush things." The Grizzlies led 76-45 when Battier made a 3-pointer with 6:47 remaining in the third. The Hornets then outscored Memphis 23-6 in the rest of the quarter to cut the lead to 82-68. A pair of early 3-pointers by David Wesley and Jamal Mashburn fueled a 14-5 Hornets' run to open the quarter and get New Orleans within five, 87-82. "We just waited too late to make the run," said Hornets coach Paul Silas. "If we had tied the score, I feel as if we would have had a chance to win. I looked at the tape of the (Clippers) game, and they were down by over 30 and almost won," he said. "So, I knew they would give (the lead) up." The win was Memphis' second straight and their eighth in the last nine home games. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for New Orleans, but the Hornets have lost nine of their last 12.

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- University of Miami tailback Willis McGahee took out a $2.5 million insurance policy two weeks before he was injured in the Fiesta Bowl and can collect after a year if the injury prevents him from returning to football, a Florida newspaper reports. Insurance agent Keith Lerner of Gainesville told Florida Today that the policy was signed and put into effect just prior to the game, the newspaper said in a story for Tuesday editions. That last-minute decision could end up securing McGahee's financial future if he's unable to play again. The sophomore rushed for a school-record 1,686 yards and 27 touchdowns this past season, and was projected to be a top-five draft pick had he turned pro early. McGahee suffered a severe injury to his left knee in the fourth quarter of the 31-24 loss to Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. "I just visited him in the hospital and told him that my hope is, and that everybody's hope is, that you're going to the NFL and make a substantial amount of money," Lerner said Monday night. "But if he doesn't, he's got something to fall back on." McGahee underwent surgery Sunday at HealthSouth Doctors Hospital, next to the Coral Gables campus. Doctors repaired torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments and are hopeful he could eventually return to play again. If he isn't able to return from the injury, he'll get $2.5 million minus taxes, Lerner said. He said McGahee will be eligible to collect Jan. 3, 2004 -- one year from the date of the injury if he's not back by then. Dr. John Uribe, who performed the surgery, declined to set a timetable for McGahee's return but said he should make a complete recovery. Lerner, president of the financial consulting firm Total Planning, has written numerous insurance policies for college stars. Lerner told Florida Today on Monday that he wrote a policy for McGahee in late December with Lloyd's of London, after McGahee contacted him. The coverage officially started on Dec. 20. The final medical forms were sent to Lloyd's of London the day of the Fiesta Bowl, Lerner said. McGahee's premium was about $20,000, paid for with a loan taken out by McGahee's family, Lerner told the newspaper. "It was a real, real smart decision on his behalf," Lerner said. "He wanted to get as much insurance as he could. The ironic thing about it is that he waited so late in the season to get it that he got a lot more coverage than he could have at the beginning of the season." Insurance policies for college athletes not taken out directly through the NCAA's program can be done by independent writers.

Basketball

Pine Hills at Union - 4pm

My News

It's good to be back and I'm excited about another new year and sports in the Miss-Lou!!!!

Basketball was played through the holidays, but not like when school is back in session, Tuesday is full of basketball by just about every school in our area, I'll post all the games and times tomorrow, get out and catch some action!

To recap my time off, I spent it at my hunting camp, there were a only a few deer harvested over the holidays, mostly doe but, David Marchbanks got a nice 8 point. Not having much luck at my camp, I decided to spend a few evenings hunting at my in-laws over in Jefferson County. Me & Christopher took some stands out there to set up and while we were looking at a possible place to put one up, a buck jumped out about 30 yards from us and ran across the field, of course we didn't have a gun as we watched a nice tall rack with about an 18" spread, which looked about like an 8 point speed away from us. Christopher had already been up there a couple weeks earlier and harvested a doe and after seeing this, we were hooked. We invited a friend of mine and his son up to hunt also that day and his son saw a 6 point and a doe, but he had already unloaded his gun and was getting ready to get off the stand. The next evening I had a doe dodge my bullet at about 200 yds., we went back the next morning and looked around just to make sure that that that doe was as fast as I thought it was! My last hunt was yesterday evening and I had a small doe come out about a 150 yds. from me and I was anticipating a buck to soon follow but, that was short lived as the deer turned and started staring and then darted back to the woods, I caught something in my eye to my right and along came two mangy dogs across the field. So I've only got a deer in the freezer and I desperately need 2 more, maybe I can get them in the next couple of weeks. If not, I do accept donations!

Walt Ketchings got him a nice buck, click HERE to see the picture.

I was able to watch quite a few Bowl games during the holidays and I, like most of you, was really surprised to see Ohio State beat Miami, I told everybody in my camp that Ohio State was gonna win after the Ohio State cheerleaders hit both field goals during half time. I took it as an omen!

The New Orleans Saints chances of making the playoffs are getting slimmer, I don't think there could be THAT many airline crashes in one weekend, so all you Saint fans will have to wait another year, I'm just not sure WHICH year!

It seems Brett Favre is excited to go deer hunting, with the loss, he can still get in the next few weeks which should be the best. Does Peyton Manning hunt also?

I want to thank all those for keeping the Bulletin Board going with sports re-caps and scores while I was gone. It's not always just nonsense in there, sometimes we really do actually talk sports!

Joey Martin's trivia is back, ya'll have until Thursday to try and beat him.

I'm hoping that John L. will be back at work today to finalize the Football Pick'Em and Grid Iron Challenge winners, I'll post it as soon as I receive the information.

I'll see ya'll on the Board today!!!!

My News

I'll be heading to Liberty, MS this evening to watch 2 games at the ASC Baseball Tournament, ACCS will face Silliman in the nightcap. Silliman has already knocked off a highly rated Central Private team in 2 games earlier in the week. This should be a real tester for the young Rebel squad!

As bad as I feel for the Ferriday girls basketball team, they had a great run and deserve alot of credit for the way they played this year, they finished the season at 32 victories and 1 loss. Congratulations to Coach Lisa Abrons and all the girls on a fantastic year!

I'll be heading out early in the morning to Meridian, MS for the MCC Rush Invitational, this weekend will really tell alot about the Eagles baseball team as they will play several top notch teams in NE Texas, Bishop State & top ranked Chipola. Chipola had the either the first or second best recruiting class in ALL of baseball last year! They have a left handed pitcher that throws 96 mph and was drafted #3 overall in the MLB June Draft and turned it down! He was going to Arizona State but, his ACT score kept him from it and he opted for Chipola. He is expected to be the #2 overall pick in the June Draft this year.

Good Luck to the Trinity boys basketball team tonight as they take on Hillcrest Christian, I know it's gonna be a battle! If the Saints wins tonight, it will put them in the Finals tomorrow at 2:30pm.

Joey Martin's Trivia is posted and if you are one of these persons that is involved in this answer, you CAN'T play! hahaha

I've added some teams to the various schedules above and will continue to as soon as I get them.

Ya'll have a great weekend and I'm sure you can find alot of scores on the Bulletin Board while I'm gone. Giddy-up!

My News

Joey Martin's page is updated for today, check his Link above.

I listened to the Trinity/MRA basketball game yesterday and Trinity really never let MRA in the game as they led through all 4 periods. It got kind of scary when Chase Brown fouled out with 4 minutes to play but, the Saints didn't let that stop them as they rolled on to victory! Next up is Hillcrest Christian! Go Saints!!!!

I went out to the Natchez High/Cathedral baseball game yesterday and they started the JV game FIRST! Cathedral won easily but only played a few innings because of the game time, the varsity game was cancelled. Not sure when the make-up game will take place.

I talked with Gill Morris and he said that their game in the ASC Tournament would probably be cancelled since they've had so much rain over there the last few days.

I posted all the games above but, inclement weather could cause some delays, I believe the rain is suppose to be gone this morning, but unless we see some sunshine and wind, it may not dry up in time for today!

Good Luck to the Ferriday Lady Trojans today, Christian Life is a team that they want a little revenge on since they put them out last year!

The main trivia question has gone unanswered, today's the last day to get your guesses in!

That's about all I got for right now, check the Bulletin Board for any updates, ya'll come back now, ya hear!

Christopher's stats from Meridian were: 4 inn. pitched, 3 hits, 3 K's, 2 walks and 1 earned run. I talked to him after the game and he wasn't happy with his performance, he said his 2 seam fastball wasn't moving much and he had to go to the 4 seamer and locate. He's pretty hard on himself and always strives to be better. He'll pitch again on Sunday in the Rush Invitational at Meridian against Bishop State at 3pm.

Congratulations to the Trinity boys on their win last night and good luck today against MRA! We're pulling for ya'll!!!!

I talked with ACCS baseball coach Gill Morris yesterday and although his team took an easy win against Huntington, he says they still need alot of work, especially on the mound. "District play is on us really quick and we'll need 3 good pitchers when we start" Morris said. With the addition of the players back on the field for the first time yesterday from the basketball team, Morris said, "The pitchers from the basketball team haven't thrown any in 2 weeks, we need to get them into shape soon!"  ACCS will play again on Thursday in the ASC Tournament against ASC.

For anybody new that visits the Bulletin Board, please understand that it's all in fun and sometimes people get carried away and offend someone. The majority of the time, it's all in fun, please don't take too much in there too seriously.

My News

I'm headed to Meridian C.C. this morning to watch Christopher pitch against Alabama Southern C.C., it's suppose to be cold out there today, so we'll be taking plenty of blankets and I'll break out my coveralls from hunting season! Ahhh nothing like baseball when it's freezing out!

Congratulations to the ACCS boys and Coach Ricky Gray on a great season! Nobody ever expected them to go as deep into the playoffs as they did. This experience will help the underclassman for next year, never playing this deep before can be intimidating and anybody that says AC was "Lucky" needs to reflect on all they accomplished this year! Can you be lucky enough to place 2nd at South State? and then be lucky enough to gain a spot to Overalls? That just seems like TOO much luck if you ask me! Yes they had some game ending situations that allowed them to advance but, they had to play hard and earn that opportunity to be in those ballgames in the first place. Hats off to you guys for turning heads this year in the MPSA and I know there will be more chances in the future for ACCS basketball.

Good Luck to the Trinity Saints basketball team today, you're our last hope at bringing home the Overall Title! The game will be broadcast on 107.1 FM "The River" If you can't make the game, please tune in, and somebody better call me with an update!

I watched the Vidalia Lady Vikings play some softball yesterday, it was their first game of the season, Miranda Doughty did an outstanding job pitching yesterday and Jacee DeWeese has a gun behind the plate, she made Monterey forget about trying to steal! This Vidalia team has all the potential for a run at State this year, Good Luck girls!

I watched Ferriday girls take on Jewel Sumner last night, JS had two big girls and they were hard to stop once they got their hands on the ball, problem was, Ferriday didn't allow it too much as they pressed JS so hard that turnovers led to Ferriday gaining the lead and keeping it. The Lady Trojans will play Christian Life next, the team that put them out last year.

Well I'm outta here, got a long trip to take! Ya'll have a good day and I'll catch ya'll in the morning.

My News

Things didn't work out so I could go to Meridian today to watch Christopher pitch and then head to Jackson for the Overall Tournament. I'll just have to chase John Mark down and steal his game film.

If Ferriday's  girls basketball team is playing, I'll try to get over there, it should be a really good game.

With the basketball overall tournament going on, ACCS baseball team is having to miss games, they were scheduled to play Columbia today in the ASC tournament. They are suppose to play Huntington tomorrow at ACCS but, if AC wins tonight, they will have to cancel this game as well.

I want to wish both ACCS & Trinity "Good Luck" in the overalls, maybe ya'll can meet each other in the finals, I believe that's the only way a game between them can happen!

I have a special birthday picture that I'll be posting on the Board, but I'm going to make ya'll figure out who it is!

Ya'll have a great day and I'll see ya on the Board!

My News

I didn't get to make the Ferriday game yesterday as planned, I got caught up making a video for "Redneck Adventures", and it had me here at the office until after 7:30pm last night.

With CM&I out of the way and Rossville on the plate next, I just hope the Trinity boys aren't too wore out from last nights game as it sounded like a very fast paced game. I haven't heard much about Rossville but, I don't think they played out of their region very much, here's hoping the Saints have an easy night tonight! Good Luck guys!

I've got to go to Jackson this morning on business and will hang around until the ACCS/Prep game tonight. Good Luck Rebels!

I've got to head out, see ya'll tomorrow.

Basketball

Ferriday girls host Clinton - 7pm

Trinity boys vs. CM&I - 5:30pm in Greenville, MS

My News

First off, Good Luck to Ferriday & Trinity tonight in their basketball games!

I watched alot of basketball yesterday at the MPSA Class AA State Tournament at Brookhaven Academy. BA girls took an easy win over Benton Academy 65-38, the BA boys were leading by only 2 pts. at halftime over Marshall Academy and I left as it was getting late and good thing I did because it wasn't much of a ballgame after that! BA won 76-46 as Marshall only scored 19 pts. the rest of the game!

I watched a really good game between Prairie View and West Memphis Christian, I had heard that West Memphis had only lost 2 games this year and both were against teams outside the MPSA, their point guard, Daniel Bandy has already committed to play at Gonzaga next year, the first 4 shots he took were NBA 3 pointers and he drained them all! he scored 17 pts. in the 1st quarter! he ended up with 39 for the night and his team lost 93-77. I got some good footage from all three games last night and will show it on next weeks Sports Buzz.

The Brookhaven gym was packed all night and alot of coaches outside the class AA ranks were there watching as some great basketball was played. I even met a guy that played in the band, "Black Oak Arkansas", he was a Benton girls fan and took alot of pictures for the team.

I guess I'll listen to the Saints this evening and then head over to Ferriday for the ballgame.

Joey Martin's page is updated today, catch what he's got going on his Link above!

There's still one trivia question that's not answered! Today's the last day!

See ya'll on the Board!

Baseball

Jarrett Hoffpauir scored 2 runs as the USM Golden Eagles beat New Orleans 13-1 last night.

LSU wins over ULM with a score of 9-4.

Meridian C.C. got 2 wins over Jeff Davis C.C. yesterday, Christopher Rayborn picked up his first win in his first start yesterday. In game #1 the score was 6-3 and in game #2 the score was 4-2. Christopher pitched 5 innings and had 7 strikeouts giving up 5 hits (3 were bunts). As I read the Clarion Ledger, I see where they gave the win to another pitcher, that's about right for him, he pitches well and doesn't get the credit! At least they didn't say he was from Raymond!

USM vs. McNeese this past weekend: In the first game McNeese won 4-2, they hit 3 solo homeruns. The second game (Saturday) was stopped in the top of the 5th with no outs and McNeese had runners on 2nd and 3rd, up 5-3, started play from there on Sunday, we got out of that jam with no runners scoring, went into the bottom of the ninth trailing 6-5, USM scored 2 in the bottom of 9th to win, Jarrett got the winning hit in the ninth, single up the middle to drive in the winning run and end the game. In the 3rd game we trailed 7-4 going into the bottom of the 9th, Jarrett led the inning off with a single and later scored, we won in the bottom of the ninth when McNeese walked in the winning run, two exciting comebacks, Jarrett was 3-11 on the weekend with one walk, one hit by pitch,  1 RBI and 2 runs scored, also had a great series on defense.

My News

Clarion Ledger Top Performers for Feb. 10-16.

Dudley Guice, Trinity: Scored 21,34 and 25 pts. in 3 wins for the Academy South A championship.

Congratulations to Cathedral's Brent Tosspin on signing a letter of intent to play football at Co-Lin C.C.

Natchez Swim Association (NSA) 8 and under swimmers will attend the south state meet in Jackson, MS on Saturday, March 1, 2003.  The meet is hosted by Sunkist and will be held at the Courthouse on Lakeland Drive.

I watched the MCC/Jeff Davis Baseball game yesterday, In the first 3 innings Christopher had 6 K's and only one ground ball, in the 4th inning when the top of the order came back around, the # 2 batter hit a shot over the 3rd baseman's head, the next batter capped a ball just over the 1st baseman's head, with runners at 2nd & 3rd, the next guy bunts and reaches safely, the next guy bunts and the next and the next, they kept doing that into the next inning because they were getting on base more often than getting thrown out. MCC's 3rd baseman has always played shortstop his entire life and he's having to adjust to the new position, when he did, the bunting stopped! Christopher left the game after he pitched the top of the 5th inn. and when MCC came to bat, Brad McKee hit a homerun to go up 4-3 in the bottom of the 5th, thus giving Christopher the win.

We left Meridian after the first game as my daughter Morgan had to go and cheer for the ACCS boys basketball team. Lee Academy didn't impress me except for one thing, they are well coached, they had a couple of big boys and the coached used that size to bang them inside. AC played about as sloppy as I've seen them this year! But when AC was down by 10 pts. with around 3 minutes left in the game, he applied a hard press and some key takeaways allowed AC to come back and with 5 seconds on the clock, Luke Ogden made a basket inside to go up by 1 point and was fouled, he missed the free throw and a Lee player traveled the distance of the floor and forced a lay-up that rolled around the rim and fell out! The gym went crazy and it proved that "The Magic is Back!"

Basketball

Natchez High girls vs. Columbus - 6pm at Columbus in the North State Play-offs.

MPSA State Tournaments will start Tuesday for area teams, Adams Christian boys will play Lee Academy at 5:30pm at MRA. Centreville girls will play Leake Academy at 7pm at Brookhaven Academy. Trinity boys will not play until Thursday when they face the winner of  the Strider/CM&I game which will be played Tuesday.

My News

I got a great e-mail from Janice Davis (the mother), her daughter Janice and Kendrick Gibbons participated in the Houston All-Comers Indoor Track Meet. Janice placed 2nd in the 60m dash and 2nd in the 200m dash. Gibbons finished 3rd in the 60m hurdles. She went on to say that the scouts will be returning to Natchez to watch Gibbons some more. College and High School athletes were competing in this event which is not a high school sanctioned event. Natchez High will open their season up March 1st in Woodville.

Andy Taunton, Jordan Kirkwood, Ja'Mel Jackson & Brent Tosspon will participate in the South State Powerlifters Meet at St. John's High School March 13th.

It couldn't have worked out any better for me, I'll head to Meridian C.C. on Tuesday to watch Christopher pitch his first official game for the Eagles at 1pm, after the game is over and we head back towards home, I'll stop in Jackson for the ACCS/Lee Academy game at 5:30pm at MRA gym. I'm hearing that AC will have a good chance in winning this game, they (Lee) supposedly have 2 guys that AC will need to key on and if this happens and AC wins, they will advance to the overall finals next week at Mississippi College in Clinton, MS.

I will be heading out early in the morning, so I will not be posting anything on here tomorrow. Check the Bulletin Board for any sports updates through the day.

Well, I'm off to the Board, plus I'll be editing the Sports Buzz footage this morning for Wednesday's show, see ya'll later!

My News

I went and watched some of the Ferriday girls last night as they went on to win and end their season with a perfect 30-0 record. Coach Lisa Abrons told me that they will host a playoff game next week.

As I was driving back to Natchez, I was listening to the Trinity/Plain Dealing games on the radio and it seemed that Mike Lickliter was having the game of his career as Trinity made an easy night of Plain Dealing and will play in the championship game tonight against highly rated Glenbrook.

I ended up at Natchez High and the girls were already playing, Warren Central's bench proved to be too much last night as they ran the floor and defeated the Lady Bulldogs in the championship game. It's far from over though as they still advance to the North State tournament, that's right, North! Natchez High somehow is in the North division...go figure!

I got home and was trying find out how ACCS boys were fairing against Jackson Prep, a bad cell phone connection only let me know that we were tied with them...then the phone started ringing and ringing and ringing as we found out that AC had done it AGAIN!!! Glenn Williams hits a 3 pointer from just inside half court at the buzzer to put AC up by one and into the championship game tonight against Hillcrest.

The wife & I will be headed to McComb tonight to watch the ACCS/Hillcrest championship game. Geez, AC beats Jackson Prep twice in one year and I've missed them both. If AC plays tonight like they have the past 2 games...watch out Hillcrest!

Christopher came home late last night, they won both of their games yesterday in their baseball debut at Monroeville, AL, the first game was a blowout, I believe he said it was 14-3, the second game was 7-6. Terry's Van Pope had 3 homers, Aaron George (St. AL) homered, Warren Central's Joey Lieberman also homered, MCC hit 6 dongs in the contests.

Good Luck to all the area teams playing tonight!

My News

The playoff field is narrowing down with ACCS boys, Centreville girls, Natchez High girls and Trinity boys advancing to the next round. Louisiana public hasn't started playoffs yet, but the Ferriday girls and Vidalia boys look to be a shoe-in.

Trinity boys held off a close 1st half as the score was tied at the halfway mark, but a strong pressured defense proved to be too much for the Franklin boys and Trinity walks away victorious in the second half.

Where will I go today? I really don't know yet! I may see if coach David King has room on the bus for one more passenger.

I've added some players to the College Players Link way down at the bottom of this page.

I've also added some stuff under the Ramblings section down below also.

I thought I may be driving to Monroeville, AL this morning (5 hours) but, Christopher told me that he will pitch the first game against Jeff Davis C.C. next Tuesday in Meridian at 1pm. It seems the other pitcher is well enough to throw today...thank goodness!

I'll be home tomorrow, so look for an update in the morning. Ya'll have a great weekend!

My News

ACCS Nikki Hankins was putting on a show last night before she turned her ankle in the 3rd period, last time she played at Parklane, guess what? she turned her ankle! The Lady Rebels played hard against Copiah and had their chances late in the ballgame but, turnovers were the difference. Congratulation on a great season!

The ACCS boys were hitting on all cylinders last night and sophomore Dustin Case was the spark plug as he was pouring in the baskets from all over the floor! Luke Ogden was just killing them underneath as he bulled his way to the goal every time it touched his hands. The boys will face Jackson Prep on Friday night. The Jackson Prep coaches were there and they better be glad none of their players were as they had already been beaten by them once this year and last nights performance would have scared them to death!

Congratulation to the Lady Hounds on a great year, I was shocked to see that they lost to Porter's Chapel last night. I know Huntington has the better team, it just didn't happen for them last night.

I'm sure Trinity boys will be aired on 107.1 FM "The River" this evening and I'll be listening in to root the Saints on!

Joey Martin's page is updated today, check out his Link above.

I talked with Ken Jackson last night and he also says that Hillcrest will be the team to beat in 3A baseball this year, Central Private is not ruled out either as they have 2 very good pitchers returning from last years team. Ken also said to watch for Magnolia Heights to perform well with their ace pitcher John Hoggard. Hoggard played in the Team One Showcase with my son last year and this kids got what it takes! and I believe he has already signed with Ole Miss.

Baseball is just around the corner and I'm looking forward to it!

That's about all I have today, if I have anything else, I'll post it on the Board, see ya'll there!

My News

First of all, good luck to all the schools from the Miss-Lou that are playing basketball today!

I watched some good basketball yesterday, the Vicksburg/Warren Central girls game was really heated as these two teams hail from Vicksburg and the rivalry is unmatched by anything I've seen in a while! The Natchez High girls played a sub par game yesterday but got by with the win, they'll have to step it up on Friday night when they play Warren Central, which has a huge bench!

The Natchez High boys are finished after the loss to Vicksburg last night, and if last nights second half performance is any kind of a reflection of "what's to come", get ready Bulldog fans, because coach Mike Martin played alot of young guys the second half and they look like they will once again be a force to reckon within the next 3 years!

I'll be headed to McComb this evening to watch the ACCS girls and boys play, both of these games should be very interesting.

Ferriday girls basketball are ranked #3 in Class 2A.

Vidalia boys basketball are ranked #7 in Class 2A.

Jason Reed, WCCA: Scored 40 pts. in a 62-55 loss to Huntington.

Mallory Archer, Trinity: Scored 28 pts. in a 59-38 win over Ben's Ford.

Jenny Watts, Centreville: Scored 34 pts. in a 73-55 win over Columbia Academy.

I went to the Mississippi College vs. Louisiana College basketball games last night. This is a fierce rivalry and the basketball was pretty intense! The MC girls on by one point in overtime. Brookhaven Academy's Katie Newman (So.) started at point guard and she is some kind of quick, she got into foul trouble early and didn't see much playing time in the second half though. A girl from Enterprise named Lacey Palomarez scored 29 pts. for MC, I went to Co-Lin C.C. with her mother, but didn't know who she was until the game started when I saw her mom in the gym, I hadn't seen her in over 20 years. The caliber of basketball is probably better than you think. I enjoyed it.

MHSAA charges to have their playoff games filmed, so I issued a special request to see if they would let me partially film some of the games. I'm awaiting their approval. MPSA said I could film whatever I wanted. If approved, I plan on going to Natchez High tonight to get some footage of the playoffs.

I know alot of ya'll will be traveling during playoffs and will arrive back home late at night, a word of caution...Watch Out for Deer!!!! They're sneaky!

I changed and added a few things and names on the College Players Link. If you know of anymore, let me know!

 My News

Huntington Jr. High boys won the district 7 class A championship and finished district play 16-0.

We had a great time in Meridian this weekend, it was really cold and even a few snowflakes fell! Christopher threw 2 innings and stayed 89-91 mph, he hit 92 mph once. I was talking with one of the asst. coaches and he said that the guys are tired of practicing, they're ready to play somebody! They'll start this coming weekend and play again next Tuesday at home against Jeff Davis C.C., Christopher will pitch in one of those 2 games.

I saw on the Board where the Atkins boys are fairing well at Troy State, Doug has been posting and keeping us up on their ballgames. I hope he continues, we really enjoy hearing from them. Good Luck this year guys!

I saw Nook Logan at the Natchez High games last Friday night, he leaves today for Erie, PA where he'll play AA baseball for the Erie Seawolves. He's also been tapped for the Detroit Tigers 40 man roster which gives him all the benefits that the majors have. He got a nice bump in salary also. Good Luck Nook!

I may be headed to Pineville, LA today, Charlie Russell (The 96'ers baseball coach) has a friend that coaches the girls team at Louisiana College and he ask me to ride over with him and discuss a few things about baseball and a new league they are forming for the Summer & Fall programs.

We taped the Sports Buzz last night and there is some great footage from last week. I don't know how much footage I'll be getting this week as playoffs are all out of town. If you're going to any game, take your camcorder along, get me 5 or 6 baskets from your favorite team and I'll come by your house and pick it up and return back to you. It would really help!

That's all for today, see ya'll on the Board!

I'll be out at ACCS for the girls game then I'll probably head over to Natchez High and then Cathedral to catch some footage for next weeks show.

The wife & I will be getting up early in the morning and heading to Meridian to watch Christopher play in the Meridian C.C. Green & White game. After then game we will have dinner with the team and meet everybody. Should be a fun weekend. We'll be back on Sunday and I'll update everything on Monday morning.

Joey Martin got swept this past week in his Trivia game, I think his feelings got hurt, so watch out for this weeks questions!

Ya'll have a great weekend!!!!

Basketball

Huntington vs. Tensas at Franklin Academy - 6:15pm

Trinity girls vs. WCCA - ????

My News

Congratulations to those that signed to play football yesterday. Centreville Academy has sent Will Arnold to LSU while teammate Drew Havard has signed with Southwest C.C. and Ferriday's duo of Tyrrence Taylor & Brennan Smith are headed to Nichols State.

Joey Martin's Link is updated today, check out all his stories from around the Miss-Lou.

I'm not sure about the Trinity/WCCA basketball game but, when I find out, I'll have something on the Board.

Plenty of local basketball on tap for tomorrow night, just not much happening today in Natchez.

I forgot that there were 4 trivia questions this week and my apologies to Jarred Martin who answered correctly earlier in the week, I've given you credit above and I know that it was pleasing to you to beat your uncle at his own game! lol

I went out and watched Natchez High baseball team play an intrasquad ( I have spell checking in here) game yesterday and they were going at it pretty good. This kind of enthusiasm will carry them far as they put on quite a show. Coaches Charlie Williams and Chris Williams (no relation) are fired up about baseball and you can see it in the players as well.

For those of you that are huge LeBron James fans, he has been cleared to play! I knew that'd make your day!

Until tomorrow....Later!

My News

I went around yesterday before all of the basketball games and got some footage of area baseball teams practicing for the TV show next week, mostly everybody is into conditioning right now.

The Sports Buzz comes on this evening at 5:30pm on Cable One channel 4.

I talked with QB Tyrrence Taylor of Ferriday last night and he's excited about signing with Nichols State and playing under Ferriday native and head coach Darryl Daye. RB Brennan Smith will join him there, so maybe we'll see the dynamic duo do it again!

I talked with Trinity's Mallory Archer last night, she had a career high school high of 28 pts. last night and a tied the school record with 7 three pointers!, the win put them in a tie for 3rd place with WCCA and she told me that they would have a play-off game on Thursday to decide who would be 3rd. The top 4 advance so Trinity & WCCA will still be in the play-offs. Huntington is the #1 seed and Tensas is the #2 seed heading to South State.

Regular season play is over for the MPSA Class 1A in our area and Trinity boys finished undefeated while Huntington is tied at the #2 slot with Tensas. They will play on Thursday to see who will be seeded #2 for the South State Tournament. WCCA is in at 4th place.

Poor Ben's Ford boys basketball team, they got to shoot a technical foul before the game because of a dunk by Trinity in warm-ups and made 1 pt. With less than 2 minutes in the half, the score was 49 -1 Trinity, they finally picked off an errant pass and made a lay-up and they went into the locker room at halftime trailing 51-3. Ben's Ford started throwing up Hail Mary's and made 4 three pointers in the second half. Clearly not the same team as last year. Everybody on the Trinity team saw plenty of playing time last night!

Well, it's Wednesday and all we have to look forward to tomorrow is Joey's Page, it couldn't come at a better time, he really does a great job and I look forward to reading his stuff every week.

See ya'll on the Board!

My News

Congratulations to the ACCS Jr. High boys basketball team, they won last night over Copiah and will face the winner of the Jackson Prep/Parklane game on Thursday for the Tournament Championship.

I'm suppose to go to Meridian this weekend for family day for the MCC baseball team, I hope the weather holds out so we can see some of the scrimmage game, it's suppose to rain through Friday for sure and maybe Saturday.

I'll probably catch the Ferriday girls tonight, the Huntington girls and boys and then catch the last of the Vidalia boys. That's the plan anyway, it could change because I would like to get in some of the Trinity games if possible.

I'll have alot more to say in here tomorrow, until then, I'll see ya'll on the Board!

My News

My computer went down this weekend, hence, no weekend news! I'm operated right now on only 60mb of Ram, the other 64mb was damaged and wouldn't let my computer work, it's really slow, but it works now. I guess I know what JoJo experiences everyday with his computer! lol

No basketball games today that I know of but, plenty tomorrow! There are some Jr. High playoffs going on, but they're all out of town.

Wasn't the Pro Bowl just awful? 45 to 20 in favor of the AFC! Well anyway, I would take the $15,000 and a trip to Hawaii for losing also!

You owe it to yourself to go out and watch the AYA basketball on Saturdays at either ACCS or Trinity gyms, they are really fun to watch!

Not much to report on today, see ya'll on the Board!
